As we look forward to 2021, we reflect on the impact the events had that we were able to have in 2020: -We had 1 in person Authors and Illustrators event and 2 virtual events -We assembled and delivered Welcome Home! baskets to the individuals that successful found jobs and new living arrangements.... -Through Operation School Bell, we clothed 127 recipients, with more to go! -Held a successful Christmas in September sale to further fund our philanthropies -Stayed in touch in with our Senior Neighborhood through cards and letters -Continued working with our Vocational Education program Provided scholarships to graduating seniors While it wasn’t as busy of a year as we would have liked, we remained steadfast and provided assistance to our community whenever we could. Our wish for you in the upcoming year is to stay healthy, remain strong and continue to look the future. Cheers to health, happiness, peace and a prosperity in 2021!
Missing having this group meet face-to-face at our monthly meetings, but that doesn't mean they aren't helping in the community. Still getting out Welcome Home! baskets to Ascencia for those moving to new homes, still providing clothes for homeless children and students in schools, still checking in on seniors who are stuck at home, still putting on events so authors and illustrators can meet with schoolchildren during their classes, still making a difference in our community.
Although this year has limited our ability to work hands-on through our philanthropies, we haven’t stopped. We have been able to get clothing to our community school children as well as continue our Authors and Illustrators program in the Glendale school system. In November our authors visited Cerritos Elementary virtually via zoom! Their presentations were captivating and the kids greatly enjoyed all the visuals.... In December, we held another virtual Authors and Illustrators event at Fremont Elementary. We want to send a special Thank You to Once Upon A Time bookstore for their continued support and supply of books.

Looking for those hard to find jigsaw puzzles to wait out the virus? Shop Thrift Alley -- we have them!! No waiting for shipping!
Thrift Alley looks a little different, but the goal of helping customers and keeping both customers and volunteer workers safe is the same. Here is what to expect: Waiting in line in the shade, temperature taken before entering, hand sanitizer before entering, a friendly smile from our volunteers (I know it is hard to see under the masks, but they are smiling), lots of new stuff and the new check out procedures. Thank you for following the rules and being patient.
