In this time of world-wide crisis, congregations throughout this church are not able to gather for worship as the body of Christ. While we cannot be together in person, we can read the word of God and hold each other in prayer.

Although we will not be holding a Blessing of the Animals this year, we remember Saint Francis of Assisi and his love of animals and pray that we all greet each day with a sense of awe, gratitude and respect for creation, for the creatures that inhabit the earth and for humanity in all its diversity and complexity. May all those with family pets be mindful of their needs and the comfort they bring. God Bless all creatures big and small.

Dear God, with a new school year upon us, we pray for all students, that You would ease their anxiety about going back to school amidst the pandemic. We pray for safety for those returning to in-person classes, and for the needed technology, self-discipline, and adult oversight for those learning online. Would you ensure that every child has enough to eat, a supportive net-work of friends and family, and perseverance to face every challenge with Your strength. Amen
