Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will lead a live-streamed prayer service from Washington National Cathedral, Holding on to Hope: A National Service for Healing and Wholeness, on All Saints Sun Nov 1, at 1:00-2:30pm (PST) In the midst of pandemic, racial reckoning, and a historic election, the live-streamed service will gather Americans for prayer, song, lament, hope, and a call to love God and neighbor. Over the last nine months as the COVID-19 pandemic has circulated globally, some of the gains made toward reducing gender inequality have reversed, especially around equal pay.

Common Cause, to the rescue! Since hundreds of mail-in ballots could be rejected this November because of mistakes, such as missing or mismatched signatures. the rush is on to help voters (especially those who face language barriers, recently moved, or are voting for the first time) "cure" their ballots before it's too late, so they can be counted. In case you’re still pondering how to vote on all those propositions, suggested info sites were prepared by Sarah Lawton of DioCal and forwarded by parishioner Diane Frankle. One of the recommendations was Church Impact, part of the California Council of Churches, which has analyzed all the Propositions from a faith perspective to help you make informed voting decisions. Read on!

In our efforts to support critical, short-term needs of local non-profits during this period of pandemic, All Saints' Episcopal's membership generosity recently funded emergency relief through Able Works in East Palo Alto. This organization equips "individuals with financial education, life skills and assets that enable them to live free from oppression and poverty."

Twenty-first Sunday after Pentecost (October 25, 2020)

In these turbulent times, do you get anxious listening to the news and wonder what you can do? In addition to writing Congressional reps for COVID-19 stimulus bill funding and becoming informed on immigration detention, The Episcopal Church encourages you and others to get out and vote. Here's some incentive suggested to get everyone to the voting booth!

Now that all meals are accounted for (thank you!), we are preparing treat bags to be given to guests on October 31. Socks, shampoo, and several other items are still needed. Items can be dropped off at the church office this Thurs 10/22 and 10/29, 10:00-4:00pm. Sign up here!

Perhaps you've voted, but are looking to help out during this important election year. Encouraging friends and family to get ahead of the vote curve would be a start, but you can also work as a poll worker, or work to safeguard the integrity of the vote in battleground states with a donation. How you choose to advocate in voting will make a difference this November.

The Episcopal Church welcomes your feedback: its Task Force on Theology of Social Justice Advocacy invites Episcopalians to participate in a survey, Social Justice and the Episcopal Church: A Call for Stories. The survey will take approximately 15-30 mins to complete. Responses are due by Thurs Nov 5. Have your voice heard!

Beds are ready - for Hotel de Zink! Thanks to all who welcome those program participants into our (socially distanced) hall for the month of October. Your meals, supplies and volunteerism have made a difference, especially in these times of isolation and hunger. Amen!
