Carol Sokol has been in CBS over 30 years, 26 of them in Illinois, and the last 4 here. She’s been a core leader for over 20 years, with at least 10 of those back in Illinois in the New Moms core, with pregnant and nursing moms and their babies. Here in our class, she was a sub core leader for two years, and is now in her second year as a full-time core leader she loves her ladies Carol and her husband, Bob, live with their dog, Scooter, in an apartment next to the Bella T...erra mall in HB. Their daily life is pretty calm, since they’re both retired Bob was a civil engineer, and Carol was a pediatric nurse. They both like to run, take walks, and eat out a lot (Carol gave up cooking daily meals when they moved to SoCal) their favorite restaurant is the Park Bench Cafe in HB. They also take regular trips up to Visalia, CA to visit their daughter Kim, her husband Anthony, who are both ER doctors in Kaweah Delta Medical Center, and their granddog, Hugsy Carol once hitchhiked in Germany and Austria with friends, and then skied in the Austrian Alps and had only tackled an Illinois bunny hill beforeAND she’s deathly afraid of heights Carol started running when she was fifty years old, and completed eight marathons in six years! [She was aiming for ten total, but when she began training for #9 at age 67, decided that, like an old TV show declared, Eight Is Enough!] Carol also likes collecting pigs of all shapes and sizes (Bob said they couldn’t have a live one, though) she had hundreds of them in their Illinois house, but culled the herd when they moved west. Carol’s favorite Bible chapter is John 9, Jesus healing the blind man, since she values sight above all five senses, seeing God’s amazing handiwork everywhere she looks! What an amazing miracle, and she loved studying it again several weeks ago

This week’s Leader highlight is our Treasurer, Patti Jackson. Patti has been married to her husband, Jim, for 29 years. They met in the operating room while working in Hawaii. They have two children: Julia is a senior at UC San Diego and Jacob is a sophomore at University of Denver. Patti has been in the Westminster/Fountain Valley CBS class for 15 years, serving in Leaders Council for 10 years as a Core Leader, Substitute Core Leader, Assistant Coordinator and, currently,... as Treasurer. CBS has been a lifeline for her. Patti loves the fellowship with other women and treasures the friendships she has made over the last 15 years. Studying God’s Word reminds her daily of God’s great love for her, and of the fact that He is in control of all things! Patti enjoys spending time with her family, daily walks with Shelbie (her dog), and her new found COVID obsession: puzzles. She counts herself very blessed with her new part time job as an RN at Horizon Pregnancy Clinic in Huntington Beach. Patti’s favorite verse is John 3:16 See more
