Carved in Stone. In this trompe l'oeil mural that faces City Hall, square pillars encircle a sculpture pool, and their hewn sides narrate chapters from the past. They speak of Ohlone coastal villages, Spanish Conquistadors, and California Ranchos. They share short stories of Hayward's Hotel, and play the blues from Juke Joints.... They ‘colonnade’ towards the present with big city things, and a culture known for its diversity. . And then there’s the black stone harp; producing a circular energy flow and a crystalline vibration. Sounding from a more timeless plane, it beckons for the expansive return to the present moment.
