Thankful to be surrounded by family today where we ate, laughed, shared stories and made new memories. Reminds me how much I have to be thankful for and the wonderful people in my life. I know my mom would be thankful for my extended west coast family who call me one of their own. I went into today focusing on the fact that I’ve now lived half my 28 years without my mom by my side, but am closing out the evening knowing she is never really gone. I find her love and kindness i...n all my family, friends and the people I choose to surround myself with. It only feels like it’s been a few months since I’ve spoken to her so that must mean she is still alive in my life, her love and light still as bright as when she was here. I’m thankful for that today. Some days are still tough to get through, but instead of being overwhelmed with sadness today, I’m thankful more than anything of the traits she instilled in me that have helped me become the woman I am today. The choice to be happy isn’t always easy, but it is easier when you surround yourself with such wonderful people as I did this Thanksgiving Miss you, Mom. 14 years closer to seeing you again someday.
