Arcadia Fire Department 09.11.2020

E105 was deployed to the #BlueRidgeFire in Yorba Linda early yesterday morning as part of Strike Team 1204A. They have been assigned structure defense and have seen extensive fire. Captain Olivarez, one of our department’s most passionate Los Angeles Dodgers fans (so much so that he named his son after Vin Scully), had to miss the winning World Series moment. But he made sure to represent none the less. Great work out there E105! Stay safe.

We would like to especially thank our community partner Arcadia Police Department for their dedication and service to the City of Arcadia and our entire community. Thank you for always having our back and for working so hard to keep us all safe. The Arcadia Fire Dept would also like to say thank you to all our fellow Arcadians who have intentionally shown us support and given us encouragement during these past several weeks. The outpouring of support has meant the world to us. THANK YOU Arcadia. Together we are #ArcadiaStrong

The #BobcatFire has grown to over 60,000 acres and is 15% contained. Fire crews will focus on addressing the threats to the communities on the north end of the fire. A combination of air and ground resources will work at halting the fire’s forward progress while having structure protection in place. Around Mt. Wilson crews will continue to hold and improve the lines protecting infrastructure while trying to keep the fire from spreading to the west around the mountain. To the ...east, firefighters will continue to patrol and pick up any spot fires and look for opportunities to establish direct control lines to slow the fire’s spread. In the south near Arcadia, crews will continue to mop-up and strengthen lines around foothill communities. Separately, a firefighter has died fighting the El Dorado fire in San Bernardino County. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and all firefighters who are on the front lines. The City of Arcadia will continue to provide regular Bobcat Fire updates on the City’s website at ArcadiaCA.gov/Bobcat and on Twitter @ProtectArcadia, but will be winding down emergency public information operations through the City’s hotline and other social media platforms. Residents are encouraged to check the website and Twitter regularly for the latest updates on the Bobcat Fire. Evacuation warning remain in effect for all residents north of Foothill Blvd. and east of Santa Anita Ave.

September 16, 2020 The City of Arcadia, in coordination with the #BobcatFire Unified Command, is lifting the mandatory evacuation order for all residents north of Elkins Ave. and east of Santa Anita Ave. beginning at 4:00PM today. Residents will not be able to return before 4:00PM. All residents in the area are advised to be on alert as spot fires and uncertain weather conditions have the potential to change fire conditions. Residents will be asked to provide a valid ID upo...n returning to the area. The Arcadia Police Department will be at ingress points along the evacuation zone to assist residents in returning home, in addition to providing additional patrols in the area throughout the evening. Non-residents will not be allowed to transit the area. There are many hazards that may exist when returning to your home after a wildfire. These hazards can include fire ash, damaged utilities, as well as hazardous materials. To protect yourself from these hazards, it is important to utilize personal protective equipment that can include breathing protection (N-95 rated respirators), protective clothing, gloves, and boots, as well as eye/face protection. Fire crews worked overnight to protect the foothill neighborhoods of Arcadia. The Bobcat Fire made its way into the Chantry Flat area above Arcadia and approached Wilderness Park. Although the fire burned the hillside above the park, the park was not damaged. The fire is continuing to burn westward through the Angeles National Forest along with spotting in nearby canyons. No structures in Arcadia have been impacted. The fire has grown to over 44,000 acres and is 3% contained. The Arcadia Fire Department will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as conditions change. The City of Arcadia, our first responders, and emergency operations personnel thank our community for their patience and support.
