The information below is courtesy of Long Beach Councilmember Al Austin (District 8). Long Beach sits at the mouth of both the LA and the San Gabriel Rivers. Much of what comes down these 2 rivers ends up on the beaches of Long Beach. Here is an opportunity to share your thoughts on the future of the LA River. The information below is courtesy of Long Beach Councilmember Al Austin (District 8). *Online Community Meeting About L.A. River Master Plan* Los Angeles County is upd...ating the L.A. River Master Plan, a comprehensive approach covering all 51 miles of the L.A. River. The effort was launched to update the original 1996 Master Plan, and bring a comprehensive vision to the transformation of the L.A. River. The 2018 Lower L.A. River Revitalization Plan, for which Councilmember Austin served on the working group, is one of the foundations for the new Master Plan. As part of this effort, the County of Los Angeles is preparing a Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) to evaluate any potential impacts on the environment. The community is invited to participate in an online scoping meeting for the PEIR on Wednesday, July 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Details about the CEQA online scoping meeting and the environmental review are available at pw.lacounty.gov/go/larmpceqa. Visit larivermasterplan.org for more information about the L.A. River Master Plan.
