Happy Sunday and welcome to our latest Sunday Serenade - featuring Andrew Hagar! Andrew's cut his teeth over the last few years opening for greats like Willie Nelson under a variety of monikers, and in the midst of last year's madness managed to release his first two singles - "Judgement Day" and "Cold Knife Karma" - under his own name. And he's got more on the way in 2021! Keep an eye out at andrewhagar.com, and visit our profile to enjoy a performance of his yet-to-be-released song "The Lucky One," featuring Lexi Lynn Frazier. // Video shot + edited by E. This week's Sunday Serenade comes from the one, the only Chaki! If your life's been missing a bass-playing funk wizard in a rainbow sequined cape whose live sets feature covers of greats like Sade and Prince... well, you're welcomeee. We lost Chaki to Los Angeles earlier this year, but his Bay Area tenure - atop stages with the likes of Shannon Shaw, The Space Lady, Flipper, and more - remains in our hearts forever! His two latest releases are up on Bandcamp - an EP from last spring called "The Water" and a batch of covers released in September! Check 'em out here: https://chaki.bandcamp.com/ Enjoy this performance of his song "Get In Line" and have a wonderful Sunday! Love, Us

This week's Sunday Serenade comes from Avi Vinocur, performing "Old St. John" from his band Goodnight, Texas's 2012 debut album! This one's a treat, as Avi memorably played this unplugged off the mic at the Fillmore when the band opened for Bombay Bicycle Club way back in 2014. (They've returned twice more, opening for local greats Nicki Bluhm, and Two Gallants.) Avi was busy last year - he hosted one of the first local livestreams with a crew of friends, March 21 and 22, ...released new music with the band - including the just-released "Hypothermic" - as well as solo - his track "Santa Cruz" is not to be missed! - anddd he played with Metallica on their recent livestream Helping Hands Concert and Auction. Whew! More's on the way from him this year... in the meantime, enjoy this performance, recorded just for you! For more on Avi and Goodnight, Texas, visit https://linktr.ee/avivinocur and https://linktr.ee/goodnighttexas. We miss you! Stay safe. Love, The Fillmore See more

Studebaker has emerged as one of the brightest spots in the local music scene of late, performing on stages from Rickshaw Stop to the Independent, and continued her streak in 2020 with a absolutely fantastic debut EP - entitled Dreamland - released last spring. More music is soon to come, but in the meantime, you can give the EP multiple listens (+ purchase!) at https://zelmastone.bandcamp.com/album/dreamland and find out more about the project at https://www.zelmastone.com/ Enjoy + stay safe! Greetings and happy Sunday! This week's serenade comes from Santa Cruz-based Wolf Jett. A great combo of folk and soul and blues, Wolf Jett was born when frontman Chris Jones returned to the Bay Area and reunited with longtime collaborator Jon Payne, alongside Will Fourt and Jeff Kissell. Jon made headlines earlier this year after his home + recording studio were lost in the devastating CZU Lightning fires in August, but the band has remained steadfast in their craft and a debut album is due in early 2021! Please enjoy this version of their song "While You Wait," recorded just for you, Fillmore friends! Find out more about Wolf Jett at wolfjett.com, and have a lovely rest of your weekend. Love, The Fillmore.

Nari's a Bay Area native whose love of the local scene inspired her to start writing and performing herself just two years ago, and we think you'll enjoy the results. She's released a handful of singles - including her latest, "Pony," released last fall on Park the Van - and there's another on the way in February called "Lower My Expectations"! Enjoy this performance from her home away from home in Lexington, Kentucky - recorded just for you, our Fillmore fam. Welcome to this week's Sunday Serenade! This week's song comes from Oakland-based multi-hyphenate (writer! musician! dancer! filmmaker!) Brontez Purnell. Brontez has clocked time in local greats like Gravy Train!!!! and his current band The Younger Lovers, and his debut solo EP "White Boy Music" was just released in November. There's a long list of reasons we love Brontez (and we're not alone - his many accolades include the New York Times naming him in 2018 as one of 32 "Bla...ck Male Writers for Our Time"), but high on our list is his story from atop the Fillmore stage in 2014 of writing fan mail to Kathleen Hanna as a teenager and forging a bond with her that saw him in that moment opening for her band The Julie Ruin. <3 Enjoy his song "100 Boyfriends" backed by Alex Shen on drums and Marc Ribak on bass. Video by Melissa Dale Studios and sound by Ryan Shiver. Recorded at 19th and International Studios. Give the new EP a listen here: https://postpresentmedium.bandcamp.com//white-boy-music-e-p Happy Sunday! Love, The Fillmore
