Newbie advice. Tank valve Black always closed until at least 2/3 full. Black tank is not a septic system but a holding tank. Dump when at least 2/3 full with plenty of liquid in it. Ridx, etc really does not have time to work. The rest of the chemicals really just help on smell. If your black stays full enough to start biodegrading then you need to dump sooner!... Toilet paper use what ever you want to just ensure you tank has enough water. Toilet is usable going down the road, you do not need to put shopping bags in it for your grandkids Fridge also useable going down the road, if it is household quality you have an inverter to power it, otherwise camper grade runs on propane. Satellite dish for TV only (in most cases), you cannot get internet from it. There is a special Hughes dish that can get internet but you probably can not afford it or have the technical expertise to use it. Internet most parks are minimal. You can get a hot spot or add hot spot to your cell but movie streaming will be slow and cost you a lot of bandwidth which normally means money. Rest areas, stopovers yes your RV is fully usable, water is by pump from the tank, stove works on propane, everything else will run from generator unless you don’t have one. Water tank "if I carry water I will get bad gas mileage." Really would love to see the proof. Water is not going to make difference. "It is hard on the tank to drive with water in it." It was DESIGNED for that. Gas Mileage An RV is not a Prius! Yes you will get low miles per gallon. Should I travel with a pet? - Are you a pet lover? This is not an RV question but a desire for you to have the companionship and work a pet involves. Just because you bought an RV it does not change your pet situation. The basics are your RV was designed to use, so go use it!
