In this final week of Marathon Month, we're exploring ways to help someone who may be in an abusive relationship. LISTEN - start the conversation by expressing concern and let the person know you believe what they are telling you. OFFER SUPPORT - let them know they are not alone and ask how you can best support them. PROVIDE RESOURCES - encourage them to reach out to community resources and connect them with appropriate hotlines, support groups, shelters, etc. SAFETY PL...AN - help them take steps they need to stay safe. RESPECT THEIR CHOICES - don’t be judgmental instead let them know you’ll be there regardless of their choice to stay or go. **Challenge** Having a network of caring supportive relationships is a valuable way everyone can build emotional resilience and improve mental health. This week’s challenge is to reach out to a friend or family member to check-in and express your appreciation for them! Register: www.events.richstonefamily.org/marathonmonth

In week 3 of Marathon Month, we're highlighting the barriers to leaving that so many survivors face when in abusive relationships. They are often asked ‘why don’t you just leave?’ Abusers are manipulators who create barriers to leaving that include: emotional and financial dependency; threats of violence against the victim, their children, or other loved ones; isolation; and a lack of resources. Through this challenge, our goal is to recognize the many barriers or "walls" tha...t prevent survivors from leaving and also celebrate the strength of those who are working to overcome them. ** Challenge ** hold the wall sit position for 30 seconds to 1 minute or more! As you complete the weekly challenges, don't forget to take photos or videos of your team participating and tag #RunForRichstone! Thank you Courtney from @f45_training_manhattanbeachpac for the wall workout tip. Register: www.events.richstonefamily.org/marathonmonth
