How Can A Professional Work To Get A Broken Washer Spinning Again? You have chosen to buy a washing machine but must decide between a top loader and a side-loading appliance. Consequently, the professional that has been invited to exam a broken washer should immediately ask about how clothes get placed inside of it. Are they tossed down an opening in the top, or are they thrown into a door in the washer’s side? What could keep a top loader from spinning?... When a top loader leaves a manufacturing plant, its motor has been coupled to its transmission. A problem that concerns the direct drive motor coupling can interfere with the process used to get the manufacturer’s appliance spinning. That process relies on the position and action of two fork-like components. The manufacturer has placed a rubber coupling between those two forks. Each fork has a specific job. One of the forks gets attached to the shaft of the motor. In other words, it establishes a connection between the motor and one of the two rubber coupling elements. The other fork gets attached to the transmission’s input shaft. If each of the elements placed in the washer, as it was put together at the manufacturing plant, remains in place, the top loader will spin. Yet if a fork slips the appliance will fail to start spinning. By the same token, if a fork fails to engage the transmission, the washer’s tub will not spin. What could account for such a failure in a front-loading machine? An experienced appliance repair professional in San Diego County would feel compelled to take a look at both the washer’s door lock and its interlock switch. The door lock ensures engagement of the door’s locking mechanism by the motor. If it fails, the affected appliance cannot be made to spin, because the motor will have no way of knowing that the door has been closed properly. The interlock switch also serves as a means for controlling operation of the washer’s spinning action. It tells the control board when conditions permit the spin function to operate. A professional should check to see if the interlock switch does not lock the door. It also pays to see if the interlock switch has failed to ensure the necessary engagement. Certain tests can be carried out, in order to ascertain the location of the troublesome problem. It is best to remove the power source, before moving forward with any checking or testing procedures. A multi-meter can be used to test for continuity of the motor. The reading for the resistance should show a figure between 1500 ohms and 1900 ohms. Contact us: (619) 719-5005 [email protected]

What To Do If My KitchenAid Fridge Is Leaking? An experienced troubleshooter should know exactly what to do, upon finding a pool of water on the floor beside your KitchenAid refrigerator. This article seeks to calm the nerves of those adults that would like to become expert troubleshooters. The first thing to do, after discovering the leak... Check to see if the fridge’s door seals shut in the way that it should. If the door’s seal is damaged, then the appliance will run excessively, and create too much water. Wash the seal using warm water. A second thing to check Examine four parts that seldom get noticed the refrigerator’s legs. The refrigerator’s legs should force the fridge to tilt back just a little bit. If your fridge is not tilted slightly to the rear, re-adjust the legs. Another thing that must be examined Be sure to pull out the drain pan, and to look for any cracks. The drain pan holds the water that gets produced by a working refrigerator. If it is damaged or has a crack, it will have to be replaced. Realize that a fridge has two drains One drain sends water into the drain pan. Now you need to consult the manual, so that you can find and look closely at the defrost drain. If it gets clogged, a leak could develop behind the fridge’s closed door. Use warm water to remove the clog. One final checkup If you still have not discovered what has caused the leak, study the condition of the line that leads to the ice maker. It might have become loose. If that is the case, then you will need to tighten the connections. All trouble shooters accept the fact that they cannot always arrive at the solution. If you remain clueless, concerning the reason for the leaked water, you will have to contact an expert on repairs, especially repairs to refrigerators. Contact us: (619) 719-5005 [email protected]

In this case, you will want to call a professional San Diego County appliance repair technician. Weak or Inconsistent Flames Clogged burners may also be the problem here. When your range is getting insufficient gas or air, it may be due to the air shutter and may even cause a noise when you ignite your burners Pilot Light Won’t Stay Lit If your pilot light goes out continually, it may just need a cleaning. Cleaning around the opening may be the simple solution. Your light may also just need an adjustment to adjust the flame strength. Gas Odor Caution! When you smell gas, all it takes is a spark to create combustion. Many house fires are caused by appliances that are fueled by natural or propane gas so you don’t want to take any chances. Make sure all burners are off and turn off the gas supply. Pull the range away from the wall slowly and locate the valve handle. Turn it off. The handle, when turned off, will be perpendicular to the pipe. Open all windows and ventilate your house. Immediately call your gas supply company or appliance repair company in San Diego County. How To Get Rid of The Stuffy Smell In Your Dryer? If you get annoyed each time that you take a load from your dryer and then feel obligated to clean the lint filter, you must keep in mind what can happen if you fail to perform that one task repeatedly. When lint filters do not get cleaned on a regular basis, the damp fibers in that same small screen can get moldy. The odor from those same moldy fibers can cause a dryer to have a stuffy smell. A thorough cleaning of the lint s...creen helps to banish that unwanted smell. No doubt you have seen that each time you remove the bulk of the fibers on your dryer’s lint screen, a few stray fibers remain, sticking stubbornly to the pieces of wire. Obviously, you do not want to spend time picking them out, one by one. Still, their presence does invite mold. Consequently, you should vacuum your screen if you really want to get rid of your dryer’s stuffy smell. True, you might get a bit of dirt on the screen’s lint-catching surface, as it comes in contact with the vacuum cleaner. For that reason, you must follow the vacuuming with a special kind of cleaning. Clean the lint-catcher (the screen) with some dry towels. Clean the interior walls of the dryer’s drum This task requires no great skill, but it does call for diligence. You have to clean diligently in spots that seem clean, but are full of tiny, fiber-like threads. But before you start the cleaning, you must air dry the drum’s walls. Once those walls are dry, wipe them with a damp cloth. The solution used to dampen that cloth should be equivalent to 1 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of water. Wipe all sides of the drum plus the back region. Get rid of the bleach odor by wiping all the bleach-covered surfaces with a cloth that has been dampened in water, alone. Use an air drying technique on the wet surfaces inside of the appliance, before adding any new load. Dry towels that have been dampened with a liquid from the shelves in your kitchen Sprinkle a generous amount of while vinegar on several towels. Throw those same towels in the dryer that smells a bit stuffy. Set the dryer’s drum spinning, while it holds the soaked towels. Each towel will dry, and its vinegar will work to destroy the unpleasant odor created by unseen mold. If you want to pay for some extra help It is possible to contact an agency that specializes in the cleaning of appliances. Have a technician from such an agency gain access to the air-carrying system inside of your dryer. The trained appliance repair technician in San Diego County can then vacuum that same system. How To Fix Dishwasher That Fails To Drain The washer has a draining phase, between the wash and rinse cycle, as well as before the final spin. The spinning supplements the removal of excess water, by means of a drain. The dishwasher cannot spin the dishes; hence the draining mechanism needs to work perfectly, so that the appliance can get the dishes as dry as possible. There are six places where some malfunction could keep the draining function from carrying out its expected ...job. This article will take a quick look at each of those 6 places. In addition, it will suggest a remedy, if the instruments needed for performance of that same remedy can be accessed, without calling an expert at appliance repairs. The 6 spots to check The first spot to check is the appliance’s air gap. The manufacturers have put an air gap between the dishwasher’s inner and outer section. In the absence of that air gap, water will lack a place to drain. The second spot is in the sink. Water from the dishwasher is supposed to drain into the kitchen sink. A blockage in a drain pipe that leads to the sink would keep the dishwasher from getting rid of the unwanted wash water. In order to remove that same blockage, it is best to use baking soda, rather than a drain cleaner. Spot number 3 is not even in the dishwasher. It is in the location where the cleaning supplies for the kitchen get stored. When the wrong dishwasher detergent has been used, the appliance’s drain feature does not work well. The right detergent limits creation of suds, so that no excess amount of suds can block the drainpipe. Spot number 4 is near the kitchen sink; it is the filter used to clean the water that will pass through the tap. As the filter linked to the dishwasher wears out, the dishwasher’s draining mechanism fails to perform as expected. Particles in the water do not get filtered out, and thus get deposited on the insides of drainage tubes. The tubes in the system drain into the 5th spot where there could be a problem. That is the drain hose. It is possible to check the drain hose; see if it has a kink in some section. Be sure that the same hose leaves plenty of space for passage of liquid drain-off. The 6th and last location to check is the hose loop. Make sure that it is not too high. If necessary, reposition it, so that the water can flow from a high point to a low point, as it gets drained from the dishwasher. If this is difficult for you, it is best to consult with an appliance repair service in San Diego County. Contact us: (619) 719-5005 [email protected]

How To Deal With A Jammed Garbage Disposal What are the signs that you have a jammed garbage disposal? Turn on the switch and see if the device is working. If it is not, then listen for a muffled sound. If you hear a noise that you would describe as a hum, then you have a jammed garbage disposal. How to go about fixing the jammed device:... Understand that at no time during this entire procedure should you try putting your hand inside of the jammed piece of equipment (disposal). Appreciate the fact that you do not know why it has jammed, and the disposal’s sharp blades could start turning at any time. You must keep your hands away from those same blades. You have completed your diagnostic procedure. Remove the device’s switch from the on position, and put it back in the off position. Shut off the water that gets fed into the sink. Using a flashlight, take a good look at the drain in the sink. If you see an object in the drain, get wooden or plastic tongs and remove it. If you do not see anything in the drain, you will have to get out your tool kit. Find your inch Allen wrench. Take wrench and flashlight and look at the kitchen drain from the bottom. See if you find a hole in the pipe that is under the sink. Put the wrench in the same hole and wiggle it back and forth, until the wrench will turn. This should allow you to look inside, so you can check to see if there is some object clogging that end of the drain. If this procedure does not aid discovery of an object that has jammed the disposal, you will need to use something that is not in your tool kit. Get hold of a broom and turn it upside down, so that you can direct the handle into the opening in the sink. Stick the broom handle into the sink hole. Push it against the blades, and move it back and forth. Hopefully, that trick will get the garbage disposal running again. If the device is no longer jammed, reset it; then turn back on the flow of water into the sink. Actions to take, after the disposal is no longer jammed Improve the method used to dispose of garbage, using the device in the sink. Make sure to keep water running in the drain, when the disposal’s switch has been returned to the on position. Be more careful about what gets fed into the enhanced drain in the sink (the disposal). It cannot dispose of everything. Some objects can get jammed in the blades. You might want to call in the appliance repair service in San Diego County to look at it. How To Clean Your Frigidaire Dishwasher Cleaning your Frigidaire dishwasher may not be something that you think about but it is a task that you need to consider doing every time you unload your dish-washing unit. Most people assume that the inside of the dishwasher stays cleaned because it is constantly running through a wash and rinse cycle, sometimes at high sterilizing temperatures. However, in reality, the food that is washed off of the dishes and utensils end up clinging... to the inside of the dishwasher or at the drain. The result is a buildup that over time can restrict how clean your dishes get and how thorough it washes. In fact, those particles of food that come off the plates or utensils may get stuck on the side of the dishwasher wall and then peeled off again the next time you wash a load and washed right onto a plate where it will stayyuck! Because regular cleaning of the Frigidaire dishwasher is mandatory in keeping a clean dishwasher, it is important that you learn the proper way to clean your dishwasher. Here are a few tips to help you do that. Wash Regularly You want to prevent the build up from inside the washer. If you use your Frigidaire dishwasher on a regular basis, you will be preventing any buildup from occurring. Each time a cycle is run through the dishwasher, it flushes out the debris and keeps it from hardening on the bottom and sides of the washer. Empty the Frigidaire Dishwasher Before you do any work on your dishwasher, run the washer through a cycle and then empty all dishes inside. This will help you to work on the dishwasher more efficiently and perform necessary maintenance. Inspect & Clean the Spinning Arms The sprayer arms have an important job to do during a cycle. They are in charge of distributing water in a rapid pace all around the dishwasher, getting areas that are hard to reach with just a simple spray of the water at the beginning of the cycle. If the arms are not spinning the way that they should be, you will want to clean the debris that may be trapped inside blocking the water from coming out of each of the holes. An appliance repair technician in San Diego County can clean these holes by using a wire or a toothpick. Clean the Edges and Exterior The dishwasher can develop a smell that can be very offensive if it is not dealt with. The smell can also end up on your dishes that you just cleaned. The smell however, could also be coming from the outside as well. It is important that you take a wet dish cloth and go around the door of the dishwasher after each cycle. Wash all the buttons on the outside as well as the front of the door. Doing this after unloading the dishwasher is a good habit to get into.It is a good idea to get into the habit of washing up underneath the door, the flatware basket, the rubber gasket, and the detergent dispenser as well. Energy Efficient Dishwasher Facts You Should Know When it comes to new dishwashers on the market today, it is amazing how far they have come even in a couple short decades. If you purchased your home in the mid 90’s, that dishwasher that came with it costs you $40 more in energy costs per year than one purchased today. But even more amazing is the water usage. A dishwasher purchased with today’s technology would save you approximately 3,700 liters in water annually from that ...mid-90’s dishwasher. Add an additional 3,700 liters of water savings if you wait for a full load and that is a huge amount of water saved each year. Most Energy is Used Heating the Water Consider the fact that nearly 80 percent of the energy used by your dishwasher is merely to heat the water! Run the hot water at your faucet first and you will have immediate hot water available instead of using the energy to heat it up inside the dishwasher. This can help save a tremendous amount of energy. Hand washing Vs. Dishwasher Washing And the winner is your dishwasher! According to a study conducted at the University of Bonn in Germany, even the most careful hand washing technique had a difficult time competing with today’s modern dishwasher. The study found that the modern dishwasher used only half the amount of energy and a sixth the amount of water than doing a comparable amount of dishes by hand. Some Technology Isn’t Better New smart dishwashers with dirt sensors were found to use significantly more energy than ones without the sensor, according to Consumer Reports. This additional energy usage is not usually reflected in the Energy Guide sticker rating. Technology is good but you may want to skip this particular bell and whistle. So what can you take away from these facts? Skip the hand washing. This is good news, isn’t it? It may be time for an update to your dishwasher considering the amount of energy and water you could be saving. Your dishwasher should last between 7 and 12 years. If it’s reaching the end of its lifespan, you may want to consider a replacement. Don’t waste your money on some technology. If your dishwasher is struggling, it is important to get professional advice. At San Diego Appliance Repair Company, we are experts at dishwashers, both the 1990s version and the latest technology. Tips For Troubleshooters On How To Maintain Samsung Dryers A troubleshooter that lives in a home with a dryer always has a busy schedule. Some maintenance jobs call for daily work on one of your Samsung dryer’s parts, some of them demand monthly attention to a specific task. Jobs that should be completed each day... Clean the lint screen before doing a load of clothes. Pick off the pieces of lint. This reduces the amount of work that could be demanded of the appliance during that day’s run of the dryer’s cycle. Make sure that only clean items get put into the dryer. Do not think that any wet cloth belongs in the dryer’s drum. Still, items that got wet during time spent in the washer do belong in the clothes drying appliance. Tasks to perform at least once a month Take the time to wipe your Samsung dryer’s outside surface. If washed items get placed on top of the appliance, it could collect some of the soap residue. The chemicals in that residue could work to corrode the appliance’s surface. If the user does not call in an appliance repair expert in San Diego County regularly, the dryer could malfunction due to neglect. A job that someone must do every 6 months An industrious troubleshooter can carry out this particular job. Still, there are times when it pays to have it done by a professional. The dryer’s vent ought to be cleaned every 6 months. If the vent does not get a regular cleaning, it might become the home of an obstruction. If the vent gets obstructed, there is less air making its way into the dryer. Dryers that receive a reduced amount of air do not dry their clothes as swiftly. By the same token, the affected dryers use up a larger amount of the home’s available energy. The 2 ways that the dryer’s use of energy increases when the vent is not clean When less air from the outside enters the vent, the dryer must work harder, in order to ensure a steady passage of warm air over the tossed clothes in the drum. As the garment-drying appliance works harder, it demands more fuel. Electricity serves as that fuel. Thus the home’s electric bill will increase, when the vent has not been cleaned on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the fact that the appliance works harder and harder does not manage to make up for its inefficient operation. Dryers cannot operate efficiently when a clogged vent deprives them of a means for sending warm air over the tossed garments. Consequently, clothes do not get dry after one cycle. Faced with damp garments and linens, the homemaker feels forced to keep lengthening the cycle; thus, increasing the amount of electricity used to dry all of the family’s garments. Why You Need To Use A Special Detergent In Your Dishwasher The detergent designed for use in dishwashers mixes more easily with soap than the liquid used for hand washing dishes. Thus, the water that enters the dishwashing machine manages to do a good job of cleaning the items on its racks. A second reason for using the detergent in a box, rather than the liquid used for cleaning the glassware and plates... Dishwashing soap creates lots of suds. Picture the formation of suds in a closed space, like the basin in a dishwasher. Creation of all those suds would be a problem. Furthermore, the sudsy mixture of soap and water would leave a residue on the dishes, even after each of them had undergone a good rinsing. If a homemaker ran out of dishwashing soap, would it make sense to use the boxed detergent that works so well in the dishwasher? No, you should not substitute one for the other. The absence of suds would push the homemaker to use lots of the detergent, more than necessary. By using an excess amount of that powdery soap (detergent), the homemaker would lower the chances that each washed item could get rinsed thoroughly. In the absence of a decent rinsing, those washed items would carry a heavy residue. What happens if you run a dishwasher after adding dishwashing liquid to the appliance’s soap dispenser? That would cause a residue of soap to form on the sides of the dishwasher’s basin. This can contaminate the dishes and corrode the basin side over a period. Is there a way to remove that residue on the walls of the basin? Yes, there is a procedure for completing that type of residue-removal operation. First get rid of any suds and water. Wash out the soap dispenser. Dry the basin’s wet sides with a towel. Then put cup of white vinegar in the cleaned dispenser; next cover the bottom of the basin with salt. After you have done all that, then you can run the dishwasher. You may want to open the window, in order to get rid of the odor. Do not let the odor upset you; the odor will go away, and the unwanted residue should be gone forever. It should not return, unless you try one more time to use dishwashing soap in your dishwasher’s dispenser. It is best to call in the appliance repair experts in San Diego County when there is any issue. Contact us: (619) 719-5005 [email protected]
