Last week, Riverside County transitioned from the purple widespread tier to the red substantial tier under Governor Newsom’s recently implemented Blueprint for a Safer Economy. The red tier allows schools to potentially reopen for in-person instruction, with modifications, if the County continues to stay within the red tier for two weeks. In addition to the new four-tiered system, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) recently provided guidance for small group, in-person, cohort instruction as well as in-person 1:1 assessment services for students. All School Sites and District Office locations will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm beginning Monday, August 10, 2020.

Dear PUHSD Families, The first day of school has been moved to Friday, August 7, 2020. This will allow teachers and staff additional time to prepare for Distance Learning. October 15-16, 2020, which were previously professional development non-student days, will now become regular student attendance days. Please check your email for more information.

Last night, the Perris Union High School District Board of Trustees voted 5-0 to reopen in August with a Distance Learning only model. The district plans to reevaluate its reopening plans with each grading period, carefully considering when it will be safe for students and staff to come back to school for face-to-face instruction, either in a Hybrid or Traditional Learning model. Additional details on how Distance Learning will work will be provided in the upcoming weeks.

On behalf of the Perris Union High School District, we would like to thank you for your continued patience and resilience during these unprecedented times. As the 2019-2020 school year comes to a close, our administrators have been preparing for how we may safely reopen our classrooms in August 2020. Our path to reopening PUHSD will be driven by our student-centered approach to maintain a caring and supportive educational environment for our students while being diligent of everyone’s health, wellness, and safety. The Perris Community Adult School Virtual Graduation Ceremony can be viewed beginning at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. The ceremony will be available on the PCAS graduation page, as well as the Perris Union High School District and PCAS Facebook pages. Hello Graduates, As previously announced by PUHSD, we have modified our Drive-Through Graduation Ceremony taking place at Perris Lake High School on June 2nd between 9am - 2pm. This ceremony will be for graduates of Perris Lake High School, Scholar+ Online Learning Academy, and Perris Community Adult School. Graduates will now have the ability to exit their vehicle and walk across the stage in their cap and gown as they receive their diploma. Each senior will be able to brin...g one vehicle with their family. Families will enter on B Street through the bus loading zone and make their way through the staff parking lot where the ceremony will take place. Students will exit their vehicle when prompted and walk across the stage to receive their diploma as their name is called. The stage will be positioned so that families can clearly view this moment from their vehicles and celebrate with their graduates. Cherished Memories will be taking a professional photograph of each graduate to commemorate this moment. To protect our staff, we ask that graduates wear a face covering when not in their vehicle. PLHS, SOLA, and PCAS staff will also be wearing face coverings to protect graduates. We still encourage you to decorate your vehicle and their graduation cap to see your creative spirit and personality. If you are unable to come to the Drive-Through Graduation on June 2nd, diplomas will be available for pick up in the front office on Wednesday, June 10th between 8am-10am.

Graduates and Families: PUHSD is pleased to announce an update to our graduation plans. While we are still holding virtual graduation ceremonies, we have modified our drive-through ceremonies to give graduates the ability to exit their vehicle and walk across a stage in their cap and gown as they receive their diploma. The stage will be positioned along the drive-through path so that families can clearly view this moment from their vehicles and celebrate with their graduate. ...Please watch for an announcement from your school with additional details. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we have worked through modifying our graduation plans while remaining compliant with public health orders and recommendations. Graduation is a significant right of passage and we want to ensure our graduates and their families can celebrate and have as many memorable moments as safely possible.
