6th Grader Ollie made an awesome California Condor and a word search as part of his Endangered Species Project for Science!
It is with great sadness we report the passing of Father Vincent Shamo of St. Mary in Palms. Father Vincent was profoundly helpful to our little school in too many ways to count. He was a man of endless generosity and kindness, and was always ready with a smile and an offer of support for our students and community. For several years, the students of AWS had the great pleasure of joining Father Vincent every month to make sandwiches for those in need, and also loved seeing h...im on a weekly basis when doing PE at the parish hall his church so graciously provides for our use. Father Vincent has had a beautiful impact on our learning community. On a personal note, Father Vincent was the priest who presided over our wedding, and has been a true friend and supporter to us for many years. Despite Father Vincent's close involvement with our school and life, it was somewhat difficult to find pictures featuring him to accompany this post. This is truly telling-- Father Vincent never made the moment about himself, and always dedicated himself to selfless service, never "stopping to take pictures". Father Vincent practiced his vocation with an authentic humility that is rare in any walk of life. He was a real one, as real as they come. We love you, Father Vincent, and will always remember you. Sincerely, Scott and Ndindi, and the entire Angeles Workshop School community.
...lots of ways to learn online!

End of the Day Action Session-- time to perfect that ollie!
Honoring Indigenous People's Day today. Our school has never celebrated Columbus Day, even prior to state law changing. This year, our 8th grade American history textbook is An Indigenous People's History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz. A reminder that we all live on stolen land.
