- -; . In last Sunday's workshop, we discussed ways to break the habit of not saying how you feel and shared tools and skills to experience the freedom and peace that comes with true-nature expression. We gave ourselves permission to share our perspective....because our perspective needs to be heard.... In this workshop, we will dive deeper, including the questions of how to say what we feel with love and share possible ways to say something that has the potential to hurt someone, how to bring up long-past hurts, and how to respond to the push-backs of "you're so sensitive, you're too touchy, you need to not take it personally" and other situations you bring to the workshop. Please join me this Sunday, December 27 from 9:30 am - Noon PST. Class size will be limited to 25 people. https://www.andresalvage.com/event-4096772 ' /? . .

LOVE IS SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL THAN FEAR I know that some of you might have some hesitation and possibly even fear about taking an anti-racist class. The fear that you might feel and see something about yourself that will be used against you can be daunting to anyone. I want to assure you that this workshop is not a let’s talk about how bad white people are free-for-all. ... Our goal is to not make you feel uncomfortable or comfortable, but to objectively, non-judgmentally share what it means to be an anti-racist, see how we all have been set up to fail over this lie of race, and identify how to use our time, talent and treasure to cause less harm and change policies that promote fear and separation. This is an uncomfortable subject, so let’s also learn how to move, breathe and be in discomfort in a way that frees us all to hear the message, learn the lesson, and let go of the guilt, anger, and fear some might want you to feel. Please sign up today love is so much more powerful than fear. https://www.openfloordance.org/essential-work-of-anti-racism From 9-Noon Pacific Time for the next three Saturdays (August 22, August 29, September 5). I want to really encourage you to participate in this upcoming workshop offered by myself and my daughter Katie. For us to get to the time when race is truly not an issue, we have to go through the messy part of looking at ourselves and dismantling this lie called race and the history of its creation. Please join me to learn, ask questions, challenge, and grow.... Here is the link; I hope to see you there on Saturday August 22, 29 and Sept. 5 from 9 am - Noon Pacific time. https://www.openfloordance.org/essential-work-of-anti-racism André

I was recently talking to a friend who had an open forum in their office to discuss racism. They told me that the discussion quickly went bad when a white person asked a question to which the speaker took offense. The discomfort and not knowing how to move through it closed down the conversation, even though the lecture continued for another hour.... . . . Every social, emotional, and spiritual process tells us that to Get To something, we must go through It. What this country has been trying to get to is peace, love, and social justice for the human race. The It that this country must go through is the lie and construct of race. . . . The lie of race has set Black people up to fail by dehumanizing us and constraining us from acquiring and building a legacy of wealth, resulting in hopelessness, worthlessness, anger, rage, and violence. The lie of race has set up white people to fail with thoughts of being outside of any race issues, conscious and unconscious backlashing, guilt, denial, anger, and shame. The recent events of the nationseeing a modern-day lynchinghas caused many of us to want to face this lie head-on. . . . My daughter, Katie Salvage, and I were contacted by Kathy Altman and Lori Saltzman, the founders of Open Floor, a movement meditation class that I often attend. We wanted to create a safe place where we can openly and honestly talk about race, ask questions, explore the history of racism, and learn how to listen to each other without shaming, comparing, or using knowledge as a weapon against each other. Most importantly, we want to facilitate doing the internal work of letting go of our Ego’s fear of being wrong, making a mistake, or just not knowing. Then we’ll tap into our True Nature’s curiosity and courage so we can reduce the harm we cause and take real steps to be part of this movement towards one race the human race. Katie shares more in the video. https://youtu.be/wikSCIIsSE0 . . . Please join us as we breathe and move together through this important and long-overdue conversation. Saturday, August 22, Saturday, August 29, and Saturday, September 5 9am - 12 noon (Pacific time) Series Cost $295 $250 early bird by August 7 Register here: https://www.openfloordance.org/essential-work-of-anti-racism The group is limited to 60 people. As we meet, we will build awareness, intimacy, and vulnerability together.

DISCOMFORTTHE PATH TO LOVE (formatted version: https://tinyurl.com/y93rde9l) One day, my 13-year-old daughter walked into the garage where I was working and said she needed to talk to me about something. Seeing her hand on her hip and her head slightly tilted, looking unnervingly like her mother, I knew I was in trouble and this conversation was going to be uncomfortable. ...Continue reading

ANGER. HOPE. COURAGE. CHANGE. I’ve been angry many times in my life, though not as much as some. My first clear memory of being angry was the day I was jumped outside my mother’s beauty shop by three 12-year-olds for having the audacity to wave at them. I was eight, and it was my job to stand outside and wave at cars going by. A self-appointed task, but I took it seriously. ...Continue reading

JONES'N FOR SPORTS https://mailchi.mp/da9b7ed2cd9b/jonesn-for-sports OK, full disclosure, I’m not really into watching sports, so my anxiety is low when it comes to the lack of sports on television now. But something was missing last Sunday as I walked into my living room. I found myself sitting on the couch looking at a blank screen, feeling something was not right. ...Continue reading

CLOSED DOORS https://mailchi.mp/b719742141e8/closed-doors As I opened the door from my room, Ian (who was 9 at the time) was sitting cross-legged at the threshold like a little Buddha waiting to expound on some great truth. I smiled tremulously, assuming he was going to inform me of some indubitable disaster that had befallen the house. ...Continue reading
