Today, I invite you to pause and spend time thinking about your own mindset. Do you have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset? A fixed mindset means that w...e view ourselves as unchanging. People who fall into this category are often afraid to make mistakes. They are critical of themselves and others. A growth mindset, on the other hand, embraces the outlook that we can all improve and change with the right plan of action. People with this mindset are resilient. Individuals with a growth mindset have better relationships, higher performance levels, and less stress and anxiety. They also have improved brain function. Some of us may not always feel naturally growth-minded, but we all have the power to get there. So how can we move from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset? Here are three ways to start today. Reframe your struggle. My friend and business partner, @dhrupurohit, always says there’s a huge difference between a struggle and a challenge. A struggle means we are stuck. A challenge is an opportunity. Reframing what you are feeling is a powerful way to learn from what you are going through and discover new ways to solve challenges. Focus on the journey and not the destination. This is important for many of my patients. So often we fixate on what life will feel like when we lose weight or get to our end goal. Instead, I invite you to enjoy the journey of getting healthy. Living in alignment with your best health is ongoing. I still have to prioritize and plan out my day to focus on eating well, exercising, meditating, and resting. I’ve learned to enjoy this journey. Pay attention to your thoughts and words. You might be surprised to find out how many of your ruminating thoughts are negative or self-degrading. When I sat down and listed my most common worries, I noticed that I wasn’t speaking to myself in a kind way. Someone told me to talk to myself the way that I would talk to a friend who I loved, and that was game-changing advice. Once I started to do that, I noticed an improvement in my overall joy. Self-compassion and grace are key. See more

My favorite line from the poem by Amanda Gorman today: We lift our gazes not to what stands between us but what stands before us. She is amazing. #inauguration2021

THE TRAIN: At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel by our side. As time goes by, other people will board the ...train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, strangers and even the love of your life. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. Others will step down over time and leave a permanent vacuum. Some, however, will go so unnoticed that we don't realize they vacated their seats. This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves. The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life. I wish you a joyful journey for the coming years on your train of life. Reap success, give lots of love and be happy. More importantly, thank God for the journey! Lastly, I want to thank you for being one of the passengers on my train! See more

To clarify our vision, we have to look within. Too often, the way we see ourselves is framed by society’s values. We believe that our worth is tied to our exter...ior appearance, our income, or our possessions. We look for validation from others and seek comfort in what we own. We believe that our worth is tied to our exterior appearance, our income, or our possessions. We look for validation from others and seek comfort in what we own. These are all distractions that only lead us further from our true self. Clarity is found only when we’re willing to take the time to listen with intent and without judgment to the quiet voice within.
