Our DUI Patrol Units started their shift at 3:00 PM this afternoon and within an hour have already made the Anderson roadways a little bit safer by arresting an impaired driver. Additional DUI units will continue working into the evening to ensure everyone's safety. Plan ahead and avoid getting flagged. Many #SuperBowl watch parties are virtual this year, but it's still important to designate a sober driver. Order in or have a sober family member make a trip on your behalf.... Enjoy the game responsibly. #gosafelyca #DontDriveDrunk See more

DUI Patrols Planned For Super Bowl LV Whether it’s the commercials, halftime show or the game itself, the Anderson Police Department is reminding everyone that we are all on the same team when it comes to being safe on Super Bowl Sunday. Super Bowl LV is Sunday, Feb. 7, and the Anderson Police Department will have additional officers on patrol over the Super Bowl weekend looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.... APD reminds the public that alcohol is not the only thing that impairs and may lead to a DUI. Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and marijuana may affect your ability to drive safely. Do your research and understand how a drug affects you before deciding whether or not you are OK to drive. California’s public health guidance advises to limit mixing with people you don’t live with as much as possible to limit the spread of COVID-19. Although many watch parties will be virtual this year, it’s important to plan ahead, designate a sober driver or simply stay at home for the night. Funding for Super Bowl Sunday enforcement is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

WANTED WEDNESDAY San Francisco Pimp Charged in Connection with Human Trafficking Operation in Anderson, CA. As our community may recall, On Saturday, July 18th, 2020, The Anderson Police Department along with the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, Shasta County Probation Department, Shasta County DA's Office, and Federal Partners, conducted an undercover operation targeting human trafficking. ... During this operation, Keeviuana REED, a 21-year-old female out of Stockton, CA was determined to have facilitated and encouraged a teenage juvenile to participate in acts of prostitution. She was ultimately arrested and charged with child endangerment as well as pimping and pandering of a minor. However, it was discovered through our investigation REED was working with a male subject identified as Anyaso COPELAND, a 23-year-old, out of San Francisco, CA. Through our investigation, we determined COPELAND was actively engaged in encouraging and facilitating both REED and the teenage juvenile in participating in acts of prostitution. NEWS RELEASE Public Urged to Prepare for Strong Storm Forecasters with the National Weather Service are warning of the possibility of severe winter weather this... week. They predict the strongest storms of the season will bring heavy rain and snow to Northern California, with the potential for snow on the valley floor. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to monitor changing weather conditions by listening to local media, update their plans and supply kits, and pay close attention to winter weather watches, warnings and advisories. To help ensure you are ready for winter weather, you can: Always keep at least a three-day supply of nonperishable food in your home. Check on the elderly and those who need assistance to make sure they are prepared. Keep fresh batteries on hand for weather radios and flashlights. Dress warmly. Wear multiple layers of thin clothing instead of a single layer of thick clothing. Properly vent kerosene heaters and ensure any electric generators are operated outside and away from open windows or doors to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Never burn charcoal indoors. Use a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration weather radio or a weather alert app on your phone to monitor changing weather conditions. Keep alternative heating sources and fire extinguishers on hand. Be sure your family knows how to use them. Store an emergency kit in your vehicle. Include scraper, jumper cables, tow chain, blankets, flashlight, first-aid kit and road map. Make an emergency supplies kit for your pet and include medical records, first-aid kit, enough canned/dry food and water for three to seven days and pet travel bag or carrier. Do not leave pets outside for long periods of time. Mountain travel is discouraged but if you must travel during bad weather, emergency officials remind motorists to inspect their vehicles before travel, carry snow chains, leave plenty of room between you and other vehicles and, if driving on snow or ice-covered roadways, reduce your speed. If conditions worsen, pull off the roadway and remain in your vehicle. Do not set out on foot unless you can see a building close by where you can take shelter. Due to Shasta County’s recent wildfires, residents are also advised to be aware of the possibility of flash flooding and debris flows in areas that have burned. Following a wildfire, the terrain is dramatically altered so even light rain can cause flash flooding. More information on flood safety can be found at https://www.floodsmart.gov/wildfires. #ShastaSheriff #WinterWeather #BePrepared

A Message From The Chief of Police "Why I Love Shasta County" As of late, the law enforcement profession nationally has been unjustly branded with a negative stigmatism and portrayed by the media as biased and unfair. As part of the campaign to discredit law enforcement, some of these groups attempt to assign typical law enforcement symbolism (like the Thin Blue Line Flag) with oppressive and racist like connotations. Many communities have allowed these small and very vocal g...Continue reading
