BAD NEWS FOR THOSE USING HWY 1 AS A DETOUR FROM US-101 The traffic lights are malfunctioning at the work site leading to 25-minute delays. Caltrans recommended... Highway 1 to Highway 20 (and vice versa) for vehicles to detour around the US-101 closure from the wildfire in Willits. UPDATE At 9:12 pm, the Westport Fire Department said CalTrans arrived on the scene and will take over "flagging duties" throughout the night. See more

A strong disturbance dropping into the ...intermountain west Monday night into Tuesday will produce strong, gusty winds on area ridges through Wednesday morning. The closure extends from the North Willits on-ramp to Highway 101’s intersection with State Route 162 at Longvale. No estimated time for reopening. UPDATE (6:45 p.m. 9/7/20) Clarifying our original post regarding detours to U.S. Highway 101 closure near Willits (Mendocino County) due to fire. A detour around the #OakFire to Highway 101 is available if northbound traffic takes Route 20 west to Route 1 north to Leggett. Southbound traffic can take the reverse or access Route 128. Motorists can expect delays, and we will provide updates when available. Please refer to the page linked below for trucking restrictions for Route 1.
