It is with a heavy heart that I must inform my Black Belts, Students and Families that Mr. Tony Fernandez (Seated bottom left corner) after suffering from sever...e PTSD has taken his own life over the weekend. Tony was one of my finest junior Black Belts and in part responsible for my passion and success in this industry I love. Tony's mother Sandy had mentioned that after returning from the war Tony was never the same (as many as 22 soldiers take their own lives daily). My own father was a decorated Navy Seal (UDT) and returned from his service with great respect and honor for his country. Tony was no different how ever we live in a different time now where as many Americans do not treat our serviceman with such respect. Sandy had mentioned that the way in which we had left Afghanistan may had been the tipping point for Tony. Tony was an incredible young man with incredible gifts. A true Champion winning and competing at the highest level both Locally, Statewide and Nationally. Tony had a nationally recognized routine called Ninja Rap that he won with were ever he competed. I will miss this young man but at the same time as a Christian I know he is in a better place now with no pain, I will see you again Tony and we will practice again with the lord. How Does Martial Arts Training Make Children Less Violent? Here is what my experience has shown me. It is amazing how often you might hear parents say that they... would like to get their child involved in martial arts, but they don't want them to become violent. In almost every case, the reverse is true. Martial Arts does not make children more violent, it makes them less violent. There is a quote that you will often hear in the Martial Arts, "Practice the fight so you don't have to." By practicing martial arts, children become more confident. Therefore they are less likely to become a target for bullying. Also, Martial Arts gives children a safe environment in which they can embrace their shadow, blow off some steam and relieve stress. On top of that, as a child develops a stronger self-image, they are less likely to feel the need to prove themselves. With a stronger self-image, they also become less interested in tearing others down. See more

A man was asked to paint a boat. He brought his paint and brushes and began to paint the boat a bright red, as the owner asked him. While painting, he noticed a... small hole in the hull, and quietly repaired it. When he finished painting, he received his money and left. The next day, the owner of the boat came to the painter and presented him with a nice check, much higher than the payment for painting. The painter was surprised and said You've already paid me for painting the boat Sir! But this is not for the paint job. It's for repairing the hole in the boat. Ah! But it was such a small service... certainly it's not worth paying me such a high amount for something so insignificant. My dear friend, you do not understand. Let me tell you what happened: When I asked you to paint the boat, I forgot to mention the hole. When the boat dried, my kids took the boat and went on a fishing trip. They did not know that there was a hole. I was not at home at that time. When I returned and noticed they had taken the boat, I was desperate because I remembered that the boat had a hole. Imagine my relief and joy when I saw them returning from fishing. Then, I examined the boat and found that you had repaired the hole! You see, now, what you did? You saved the life of my children! I do not have enough money to pay your 'small' good deed. See more

Red Tier Today That means American Hapkido MMA Moorpark is good to go for regular classes. Our 6 month jail sentence has been lifted. We will be planning Regular Classes to START Monday October 12th so we have time to get our Instructors set and make adjustments for the Red Tier guidelines.
