Admissions Season is in full swing! Alverno Heights Academy continues to offer each young woman the opportunity to become who she imagines. This year the pandemic has forced us to 'pivot' from our typical Admissions process. We have done so in the spirit of the show FRIENDS! No matter what the world brings, we know one thing, we are one Alverno community, FRIENDS for life and excited to welcome our newest jaguars. We would like to thank two of our very own, Sara McCarthy (A...ssistant Head of School) and Kate Witherington (Director of Enrollment) for being the voices for our new lyrics. It is time for a Bake A Change wrap up! Drum roll please....together with our community we raised $3000 for @shesthefirst and @alexandriahousela!!! We cannot believe it! This donation will sponsor a girl’s education through She’s the First and provide internet to local LA students through Alexandria House. A huge thank you to everyone who donated baked goods, sewed masks and crafts and participated in our baking contest! And of course a HUGE thank you to so many of our commun...ity members, alumnae and @alvernoheightsls families who came to support by purchasing sweet treats! Because of you we exceeded our goal and we will be able to help so many more families. Lastly a big thank you to Ms. Guerrero and our Campus Ministry students who put together such a creative and innovative project. Alumnae it is time to celebrate you!

Attention Alumnae and all current families: This Sunday, October 4 is the feast day of St. Francis. Alverno was founded by the Sisters of St. Francis. Traditionally to celebrate Founders' Day, we host a Blessing of the Animals prayer service. Because this is always one of our favorite events of the year, we knew we could not let quarantine stop us! So....we are hosting a drive-up Blessing of the Animals! Join us Sunday, October 4th from 1:00-3:00pm in the Michillinda parking lot to have your animal blessed. As the weekend comes to a close, we would like to pay our respects to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. She was a fierce advocate for women’s rights and equality. She lived her life with determination, focus and kindness, breaking barriers. As only the second woman ever appointed to the Supreme Court, she opened the door for so many. When asked about her legacy, she said, To make life a little better for people less fortunate than you, that’s what I think a meaningful life is. O...ne lives not just for oneself but for one’s community. Thank you RBG. Thank you for living for more than yourself. Thank you for inspiring so many young women to follow their dreams and take leadership roles. Being an all-girls school, we always strive to empower our students to be who they imagine. RBG is a great example of becoming who you imagine! She will forever be an inspiration for our students, past and present. As we sit in our homes this Sunday, we are reminded to be thankful for all we have. 2020 has been a year of surprises and overcoming challenges. Currently, our beautiful campus is surrounded by smoke and ash caused by the Bobcat Fire. We know many of our families live in areas close to the fires and we are sending you our well wishes. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you during this time. We hope all of our families, neighbors and neighboring schools are staying out of harm's way. We are also praying for our first responders and firefighters. We hope this fire will be under control soon, with homes kept safe. We hope that soon we will once again be able to clearly see the beautiful foothills that nestle our campus!

Today is an historic day! Our Lower School officially began today virtually. We are so thrilled to add more wonderful families to our Jaguar community. It truly is a special day. Please take a minute to wish our new students, families and teachers good luck!
