The year 2020 is finally coming to a close. With many different changes and unique circumstances presented this past year, our community and San José Parks, Rec...reation and Neighborhood Services have made it through this challenging year together. From responding to COVID-19, prioritizing food distribution and our community's safety and health to launching a Virtual Recreation Center to thinking outside-of-the-box to serve our residents, our #PRNSbest has been able to navigate the challenges by adapting and responding with urgency and commitment. Our department has pivoted its many services and programs throughout the pandemic to best fit our community's needs. Even during non-COVID related crisis, our #PRNSBest employees have played an essential role in assisting our community during a time of need, such as opening community centers as a safe place for residents, our park rangers assisting in fire management and locating missing people, our efforts to beautify our public spaces and many more activities that make the City of San José a vibrant and welcoming place for all. Thank you to our #PRNSBest employees who work each day to make our community a better place to live, play and make memories. With the dedication and hard work, each of our employees shares, our department has been able to accomplish any challenge put in our way. We wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season and a cheerful New Year. We encourage all in our community to practice COVID-19 safety procedures such as social distancing, washing your hands and wearing a face mask. By following these guidelines, we can protect each other and our families by preventing the spread of COVID-19. As 2020 comes to a close, here are memories of our #PRNSBest teams from this past year. And with 2021 fast approaching, our #PRNSBest staff will continue to support our residents, providing a safe place and assisting the community when it is needed. #PRNSBEST EMPLOYEES CONNECT OUR COMMUNITY WITH CRITICAL RESOURCES - CHILDCARE AND INTERNET ACCESS FOR FAMILIES NEEDED DURING THESE TIMES A recent @ktvu story c...entered around two children from @alumrockunion doing their schoolwork in a gas station parking lot. Our #PRNSBest employees from the Childcare Team saw the story and immediately sprang into action. The team was able to connect with the family of the children to qualify them, process their paperwork and enroll them into PRNS’s reduced childcare program. COVID-19 has changed the way we work, learn and live our lives into a new virtual atmosphere. With these changes comes the struggles many families face in our community due to the impacts of COVID-19 in the @CityofSanJose. The Childcare Team is just one of the #PRNSBest Teams that work tirelessly with local school districts to ensure those that need these services can get referred and registered into available programs. Our other featured #PRNSBest Team has been leading our department's new Digital Literacy efforts. The Digital Literacy Team is a newly created unit whose goal is to close the digital divide in our community and provide equitable resources to those that need them. A key offering of this team is the Affordable Home Internet program, which allows qualified residents to apply for low-cost internet services. This enables families to access the internet from home, allowing for at-home schooling, gaining literacy skills and accessing vital resources. We thank our #PRNSBest employees Edwardson Sabando, Laura Buzo, Esmeralda Prado, Nancy Doan, Janae Whitcomb and Lauren Hawkins for providing critical resources to our community. With their amazing dedication, they continue to inform and bring our residents the resources that are needed. If you would like to learn more information about our department, please visit bit.ly/prnsweb.

California has moved Santa Clara County from the Red Tier to the Orange Tier in the Blueprint for a Safer Economy. The Orange Tier allows more businesses and ...activities to resume. Changes are effective October 14. We’ve outlined them here. Keep in mind that activities allowed under the Order are not necessarily safe. Certain activities, such as dining indoors and gathering, are still high risk. Continue to wear a mask, limit your contact with others, keep your distance from anyone outside your household, and get tested. For more information, visit https://direc.to/dsdf
