Keep a close eye on your pets during the summer months. While most reactions to bee stings are mild, some pets can experience a life-threatening allergic reaction. Signs of an allergic reaction include difficulty breathing, swelling, vomiting, diarrhea, or sudden collapse. If your pet is showing signs of a severe reaction, please seek immediate care.

Did you know that pets can get sunburns too? The ears, nose, paws and belly are the most susceptible areas. Signs of sunburn include skin redness, cracked skin around the edges of the ears, or constant scratching at the affected area. Human sunscreen has harmful ingredients such as zinc oxide, which can be toxic to dogs. Ask us about a pet-safe sunscreen for your companion.

More pets go missing around the 4th of July than any other time of year. Is your pet microchipped? Before the fireworks begin, set up a quiet space away from doors and windows. Turn on a TV to mask sudden noises. How do you help your pets stay calm?

Fun Fact Friday: Cats have a special organ in the roof of the mouth that allows them to taste smells in the air. That’s why their mouth hangs open after a long sniff!

Did you know that your car’s temperature can rise almost 20 degrees within 10 minutes? Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even with windows down. Know the signs of overheating: excessive panting, difficulty breathing, vomiting, or diarrhea. Take walks during cooler times of the day and beware of your pooch’s paws on hot asphalt.

It's one of the spookiest times of the year for pets, as Halloween is a time when many cats and dogs go missing. Animal shelters report that microchipped dogs are 2.4 times more likely to be reunited with their families, and microchipped cats are over 20 times more likely to make to make it back home. We love to see how our client's are adapting to our curb-side service.
