A couple mins a day can train your dog to do its own nail maintenance! Make sure to check paws after each walk, n one lies having things stuck between their toes. Check ears, eyes and mouth regularly as well. It can tell you so much about your pet's well-being! Youtube and Google can be your friend through this. This was truly a difficult decision to make, but we feel it's in everyone's best interest. We are officially closed as of today. Having spoken and met with Alma and Mike, the owners of Paws at London Towne and Lucky Dawg, we feel confident in sending you their way for your future grooming needs. Please call to make an appt as soon as possible as they may already be booked for the holidays or have a waitlist into next year. Our IG and FB pages will stay active although the contents may change and vary. You may also contact us for any grooming instructions you wish to pass on to your pup's future groomer. Yes, yes and yes! You take care of your own hair between visits to the hair salon and your pet's hair also needs regular maintenance. It is not a groomer's job to brush your pet (when that means hours of brushing) as much as it is to keep it in a healthy and comfortable look that can be maintained at home between salon visits. Honestly, please share with your friends and family. The majority of pups visiting our salon this past year are very well taken care of and I'm so proud to know that their families care so much for them and show it!

From a groomer's perspective, this is both hilarious, because this scenario happens regularly, some may even say often. It's also frustrating because when the outcome cannot match the want or expectation it's usually the groomer that takes the brunt of the blame. Pet care starts and ends at home. A groomer cannot undo days, weeks and months of not brushing. Please keep this in mind next time some cute, fluffy puppy is tempting you to take it home. They not only require monthl...y care to look a certain way, but also regular brushing at home to keep the skin and coat healthy, not to mention physically comfortable. There are many times a groomer will comb through a dog's coat and discover a lump, an injury, a mole, maybe a bald spot. Imagine if you knew your pet's body well enough to notice it a day sooner, or a week, or a month sooner. Sometimes that can make the medical treatment or care needed so much less than serious. Hi, just your friendly, neighborhood groomer with another PSA about nail health. Should you have your pet's nails buffed or just trimmed? Personally, if your pet allows buffing, yes, absolutely. As you can see from the picture, nail trimming places a straight, sharp edge and leaves the nail a bit longer than buffing would. Some pets don't feel comfortable for nail trims and some feel the same about buffing. Having multiple options is great. If your pet allows and you don't wa...nt to get scratched by your dog's freshly trimmed nails, buffing is the way to go. It protects your skin, your kids, any elderly in the home and even your floors/furniture, but most importantly, nails are good for gripping, but paw pads are for walking! We don't want anyone walking on a broken nail or snagging it on anything either and if nails are too long, it's like walking in shoes that sized too small for your feet That being said, happy Friday! Emotional, but happy ending I came across this thanks to a grooming group I'm part of. In 16 years of grooming, I'm happy to say I've never personally seen anything like this in any of the pets I've groomed, BUT several groomers have spoken up about seeing it in pets they've groomed in the last couple of months, mostly in poodles, doodles (poodle mixes) and obese pets. Several of the pet owners took the groomer's advice and took their pets to the vet right away and were informed it's a good thing the groomer noticed because if it had gone on any longer, their pet may not have survived.

Today was bittersweet. We found out Corky girl lost her partner in crime. Toby, we will miss you so much, but we are happy you're no longer in pain.
