Voluntary return of a car to the lender because you can't make the payments is a voluntary repossession with all of the same negative consequences as an involuntary repossession.

Empty Promises! If a car dealer promises to fix a problem you pointed out at the time of sale, but leaves the purchase documents an "As-Is" sale, you have a problem. It's your word against the dealer if that car breaks down. A written contract cannot be modified by oral promises. Get them in writing!
