We are distributing enough food for 70,000 people every day, as need for food assistance has doubled in Alameda County. We're able to provide much-needed food for our neighbors thanks to the generous support of our community. Each holiday season, we're inspired and amazed by the way you step up to ensure all of us have access to healthy food. Thanks to NBC Bay Area and Melissa Colorado for telling this important story.
We met Oakland residents Surya and Estella a few months ago. They're both from small towns in Guatemala and have lived in Oakland for more than 12 years. "It is really tough to find a job in this time," Estella says. "But we're thankful for the people helping here." We're now distributing enough food for 70,000 people every day. When you shop at Safeway and make a $10 donation at checkout, you'll help provide healthy food for families like Surya's and Estella's. We're so grateful for Safeway's continued partnership.

GET INSPIRED! Check out the AMAZING Friday volunteer crew who assembled 40 pallets of produce boxes in one day! That is over 42,000 pounds of fresh fruits and veggies headed to folks across Alameda County. This is always our busiest time of year and, unfortunately, the need in Alameda County has doubled since COVID-19 began. We need YOUR help making sure we ALL have access to fresh, nutritious food. Plus, by volunteering, you will get to enjoy the wonderful sense of acco...mplishment and comradery that comes from working together towards a common goal! For more info visit: www.accfb.org/volunteer today.
We know the jack-o-lanterns are barely put away, but we’re already thinking about the holidays. If you’re starting your shopping this weekend at T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra and Homesense, you can make a donation in store to benefit ACCFB!
With COVID-related need spiking quickly at the start of the pandemic, we quickly set up contactless drive-through distributions. People pull up their cars, pop their trunks, and volunteers place groceries inside. With help from Wells Fargo, our partners at Tri-City Volunteers set up a drive-through distribution to safely provide groceries for our neighbors. In just two months, they served more than 5,300 households - distributing healthy groceries and nutritious meals. Thank you, Tri-City Volunteers and Wells Fargo, for helping meet the growing need.

"People are hurting with hunger and COVID. It's important for people to get involved and make changes. It makes me feel empowered to do something, especially because I can't vote at the moment." Antosh has been volunteering in our warehouse since June and became a lead volunteer a few months ago. Originally from England, Antosh has lived in the U.S. for ten years and applied to be a citizen. In the meantime, he's helped our Food Bank provide countless healthy meals - and has... had important conversations in our warehouse with other volunteers. "While not being a voter, I feel this is one way I can be part of the change." We're so grateful to have amazing volunteers like Antosh. Remember - your voice matters even if you're not casting a ballot.
REMINDER: You can still vote today - even if you missed the registration deadline. It's called conditional voting and your ballot will be counted just like any other. Check out our voter resource page for any last minute voting questions: www.accfb.org/vote

Hunger is on the ballot this election.
"I think voting is extremely important. Having a say in policies that affect your life is a privilege, and people who have the right to vote should use it. Getting as many votes out as possible is critical." - Soumya, Food Bank Volunteer Soumya joined our group of phone banking volunteers to help make calls and encourage our neighbors to vote this election. She says while calling about elections as a non-citizen felt strange, she was glad she could contribute. We're so grate...ful for volunteers like Soumya who are helping us get out the message: Ending hunger starts at the polls. If you're not eligible to vote, your voice still matters. Reach out to your friends and family and ask them if they've turned in their ballot. Check our resource page for more info: https://www.accfb.org/vote/
We're in the final days leading up to the election. Did you know you can still vote - even if you missed the registration deadline? You can register up until the day of the election and cast your ballot. Once your registration form is verified by election officials, your vote will be counted just like any other.
