I saw this and thought it was cute and painful at the same time. Anyone who grew of in a shame based family knows the hell of living with perfectionist standards. Here's to the dark side of being a "One" on the Enneagram. Anyone like myself who has a connection to the "One" and tendency to live in a "should be better, " "not good enough"have to be perfect" world and/or has an imprint with a "One" and invites constant criticism, knows the pain of living in a world of non accep...tance or lack of self/other's acceptance and love. For many years, I seem to attract critical relationships. I seem doomed to be a scapegoat carrying the shame of others. Thank God I learned the Eighth principle of MetaPsychiatry, "Nothing comes to experience uninvited." It was only when I learned to take responsibility for my own creations that I turned this critical not good enough world around. I remember Donna and I going out to dinner and while sitting at the table I spilled some of my tea. I mentioned this to the waitress who said "SHAME ON YOU" Without thinking, Donna and I both said immediately, "We don't do shame," and we both waved the shame energy off. I'm so grateful now that Donna and I are able to throw shame out and invite the peace of God. Several of you have asked to know where I am living now and what I'm up to. As most of you know I'm living in Bonsall CA. I moved to San Diego North County two years ago after we sold our home in Newport Beach. We love the solitude and serenity here, its so peaceful and we have almost three acres of fruit trees. I love gardening and landscaping and it's been very therapeutic for me connecting with nature. I also see clients out of my home here which is why I made it as inviting as possible.
