As you may have heard by now, Lot 041L20A of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was reported to have higher than expected allergic reactions immediately after administration or during the time of recommended observation in San Diego. Fewer than 10 people required medical attention over the span of 24 hours, according to the California Department of Public Health. We would like to reassure our community that we did NOT administer this specific lot number of Moderna vaccine during ou...r vaccine clinics at our three Kern County medical centers: Adventist Health Bakersfield, Adventist Health Delano and Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley. Our team follows specific guidelines for administering COVID-19 vaccines at our vaccination events, including monitoring patients for at least 15 minutes or longer, in cases where patients have a medical condition that could lead to an allergic reaction. During our vaccine clinics, there have been no severe reactions reported during these observation periods. Rest assured that we will continue to follow these recommended guidelines to keep everyone safe. For additional peace of mind, the lot number received of COVID-19 vaccine (whether Moderna or Pfizer) is noted on your vaccination card provided at the time of your injection.
