When I tell people that I work in hospice, the first reaction is, oh that must be so sad. But I really feel the opposite. There’s nothing more fulfilling than walking through end of life challenges with patients and families. I get to provide education to the general public. As a music therapist, I can use music to address symptoms of depression, anxiety, agitation, pain, loss of independence, life closure and tough conversations at end of life.
