BREAKING: A new mural, boldly covering our Los Angeles offices, reminds us of what we dare to create. The mural by @audreychan.studio lifts up Southern Californians past and present who have fought or continue to fight for a better tomorrow by exercising their First Amendment rights, challenging unjust systems of policing and abuses of state power, and demanding dignity and respect for the rights of Black and brown people, immigrants, people unhoused, the LGBTQ+ community and youth. Some also include their family members, who inspire and support them. Swipe to find out who’s in the monumental artwork and learn more at aclusocal.org/care-we-create

The Constitution protects all people from racial profiling & warrantless searches, regardless of immigration status. Two years ago, the ACLU SoCal set a clear goal: push Greyhound to refuse CBP access to conduct warrantless searches on buses. And we won. https://bit.ly/3qui6LZ

The District Attorney is one of the most powerful positions in our criminal legal system, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office is the largest in the country. We believe that it’s possible to have a District Attorney who invests in, prioritizes and listens to the community. We’re voting for our clients, our families, and our future. Who are you voting for? #ACLUVoter #LADA2020
For years, organizations like the ACLU of Southern California and our partners have been working in coalition to reimagine what justice can look like in Los Angeles. Measure J finally gives L.A. a chance to make that vision a reality by providing our communities with meaningful support for our health and economic well-being. Together, we dare to dream of an L.A. County that is whole, healthy and just. Join Reimagine LA and vote YES on Measure J to prioritize health, housing,... and jobs in L.A. County. #NovemberElection Full guide: https://bit.ly/3d63qfM
"When I see you, I see beauty." This #IndigenousPeoplesDay and always, we stand with our indigenous communities.
Property taxes are the largest sources of local revenue for our schools and communities. Large, wealthy corporations have avoided paying their fair share for four decades, hurting quality of life for many California communities. Prop 15 would phase in reassessment of commercial and industrial land and base taxes on the property value at the time of the assessment. This measure maintains all residential property tax protections and would also prohibit state politicians from appropriating, redirecting, transferring, or borrowing Prop 15 funds and would give residents and their elected leaders the power to decide how this new revenue can best serve their local communities. Together with small businesses, state and local leaders, and grassroots organizations, vote #Yeson15 to put Schools and Communities First.
