Happy Mexican Independence Day! Often confused with Cinco de Mayo the true Mexican Independence Day is September 16th which celebrates Mexico‘s declaration of independence from Spain in 1810...the start of a brutal war lasting over a decade, ending the 300+ year long Spanish rule and resulting in Mexico becoming a free country in 1821. Cinco de Mayo celebrates another victory for Mexico, later in 1862, the Battle of Puebla from the French Militia. Mexico‘s Indepen...dence Day is a beautiful event celebrated by people of Mexican heritage all around the world and of course throughout Mexico, a celebration filled with national pride, colorful parades, mariachi music traditional folk dances (bailes de folclóricos) and of course the amazing signature dishes prepared with the wonderful sabores de Mexico (flavors of Mexico.)
