As a small school, we at the ACADEMY OF THE ARTS are committed to do EVERYTHING IT TAKES to allow us to FULLY OPEN the 2020-2021 school year to ALL STUDENTS, EVERY DAY on August 25. Given the gradual opening of the current California lock down (assuming current trajectory in our battle with COVID-19 continues), we believe that elementary schools will be allowed to reopen in August with limited class sizes and social distancing policies. We are therefore working toward full re...sumption of regular school in August while implementing extra safety precautions to keep our students and staff safe. We have opened our affiliated Growing Garden Preschool on May 19 based on guidance from the CDSS with required social distancing protocols in place. We believe that elementary schools will have similar protocols and are already working the logistics of implementing them.

For the past 8 weeks, the Academy of the Arts has been thriving virtually with daily engaging learning & discovery. When our schools were required to close back in March, our dedicated teachers transformed their innovative and responsive curriculum to an online format within three days with pitch perfect precision and with the warmth and singular focus on maintaining the excellent relationships they have with every student and every family.

Since mid March, the Academy of the Arts has been thriving virtually online with daily engaging learning & discovery. When our school was closed due to COVI-19 concerns on March 13, our dedicated teachers transformed their innovative and responsive curriculum to an online format within three days with pitch perfect precision and with the warmth and singular focus on maintaining the excellent relationships they have with every student and every family. As we consider moving t...o the next phase in the pandemic we are following California Department of Education (CDE) guidelines. Currently, the CDE has advised all California elementary schools to remained closed through the end of the school year. Given the gradual opening of the current California lock down, we do believe that elementary schools will be allowed to reopen in August with limited class sizes and social distancing policies. We are therefore working toward full resumption of regular school in August while implementing extra safety precautions to keep our students and staff safe. As a small school, we are committed to do EVERYTHING IT TAKES to meet all criteria to allow us to FULLY OPEN the 2020-2021 school year to ALL STUDENTS, EVERY DAY on August 25. We have opened our Growing Garden Preschool on May 19 based on guidance from the CDSS with required social distancing protocols in place. We believe that elementary schools will have similar protocols and are already trying to figure out the logistics of implementing them. If you have already registered for next year, rest assured, we are holding your place for a fantastic and safe 2020-2021 school year. We will update you with the guidelines and details as soon as we know more. If you have not yet registered, please keep in mind that our class size will likely be greatly limited next year. Once the number of students per class is finalized, we will have to offer the limited spots in each class to the students who registered first.
