Because TAP fosters are always lookin’ out, we’ve got a new addition to introduce today. We received an urgent message from our foster Amanda about this girl we’ve named Bubbles. She met her on a weekend trip and according to the locals, Bubbles has lived on the street in Rosarito for about a year. The locals posted about her on Facebook trying to find her a home but no one wanted her. They said she has always been a sad dog. She’s also a very pregnant dog, and now, she’...s a TAP dog. She’s settling in at our facility but will need a foster very soon. She’s so round, it probably won’t be long until her puppies are born, but it will happen here with us instead of on the streets somewhere. The locals took her to the vet and she supposedly has 10 puppies in that belly. We’ll know for sure soon enough! And don’t worry, we’re already working on the sad part won’t be long until that’s a thing of the past, too. Thank you @amandastrack and @joey_jones for seeing Bubbles, caring, and getting her across to safety. If you are interested in taking in sweet Bubbles as a foster, please head to theanimalpad.org/foster and apply. #ittakesatribe #fosteringsaveslives See more

We called her Thomas 2.0 at first because 1 week after finding Tom, we stumbled upon her in the shelter. She was curled up in a crate, face like this, and we were done for. She’s another Bravecto poster child because even in such a little bit of time, her skin has improved so much. Little by little, day by day. Now her name is Victory, and victory is hers because today, she landed herself a sweet foster home with @drbelisa who looked past the rough face and saw the lovable. Her transformation is going to be a good one, and we’re here to take her to the finish line! We love you, Victory!

Coco became a TAP dog yesterday at 15 years old and blind. His previous owner gave him away to a nice family 3 days ago because she didn’t want him anymore. This nice family couldn’t really care for his medical needs, luckily ran into TAP volunteer @christinapoudrier on a walk, and the rest is history. Love when the timing is right and a dog’s life can change forever! The family dropped him off to us with a bag of apples and bananas his favorite snack. Coco has some o...ld dog medical going on which has sadly been neglected for quite some time. In addition to the blindness and being overweight, he has chronic dry eye and sores throughout his body. Our vet had to put him under light anesthesia to fully examine him because he was so uncomfortable. We took advantage of the mellowness and shaved his entire body, poop dreads and all. Thank you to our amazing kennel team for staying late on what was already a hectic day to get Coco in better shape. Tonight, Coco is cozied up at our new facility and next stop is a foster home. If you’re interested in showing our sweet new guy the good life, please let us know. Only up from here, pup! #justrescued See more

Welcome to The Animal PAD! You may have noticed our new shiny geo tag. We are so excited to announce that we have a new TAP Medical Clearing Facility and HQ! It’s hard to believe that we have been here just under 1 month and over 100 dogs have already passed through, in the midst of construction chaos. This facility allows us to house our dogs for 10-14 days to get their intake vetting done and prepare them for foster homes. In this facility, our dogs are often receiving vet ...care for the first time ever, and being shown love for the first time in their lives. We have already been able to give pregnant mamas a place to safely birth their babies, offer a place for scared dogs to learn to trust, and the sickest of dogs a place to start healing. We have already hosted our first spay and neuter clinic here, with many more to come! On a personal note We have waited a long time for the right place to call TAP HQ. For many reasons, this facility felt like it for us. Just to share 2 of these instances The day we moved in, we walked out the front door to a giant truck with the word ‘Broom’ across it. Sign #1. And a few days later, we walked out to a praying mantis (TAP green, of course) hanging in our back parking lot. He stayed all day. When you look up the meaning of a praying mantis sighting, this is what you find The praying mantis always waits for the perfect moment to strike. They are both patient and precise when on the hunt for food. In fact, they will wait to attack their prey only when they are 100% sure of achieving their goal. They intellectually know that being too anxious or moving too fast will cause them to lose the object of their desire. In turn, they teach us to be patient and to wait. As the old adage says, Good things come to those who wait. This is the very essence of good luck. If you have spotted a praying mantis, this may be a sign that good luck will come to you when you are able to observe an opportunity and are ready to take it. BOOM. We are home. Binx and Winnie are 2 of 14 monsters, er..um.. puppies, who made an 18+ hour journey to us this weekend from San Juanico to San Diego. 4 chiweenies and 10 boxer/lab/question marks. They are no where near adoption ready and still in quarantine as puppies straight outta Mexico. When they arrived on Sunday, we dewormed them and it’s been World War Poo ever since. Lucky they are cute. Big thanks to @rideliketillman and @beachbarks for coordinating and @_jds_world_ for braving what was probably the longest drive of your life. #ittakesatribe

Remember these kids? Probably not, because they have done a lot of growing up since we rescued them 5 months ago! This is Penny and Romeo, 2 of the 3 puppies we got report of living on the streets here in San Diego back in May. The puppies had come from TJ at 8 weeks old and were sold to a mentally unstable man who was going to train them to be service dogs and then resell them once they reached 6 months old. They were living on the street with wires wrapped around thei...r necks as collars and were being fed very large kibble, sometimes with chips sprinkled on top. Romeo had a huge abscess on his face and eye, due to severe neglect. Multiple people close to our org tried to help by offering vet care and supplies for the puppies, with hope that we would one day be able to convince their owner to let us take them in. @alianlara was their angel and the person who was able to get through to their previous owner that the life these puppies were living was not the life they deserved. She went in without judgement, making their rescue story a true testament to what a little compassion can accomplish. These pups are now just over 6 months old, and instead of being sold as was originally intended, they are loved and cherished members of Alia’s family. Yep, she just couldn’t part with them! Ozzy, the 3rd pup, has been adopted too and is also doing wonderfully. #TAPhappytail See more

We welcomed 10 more sponsored dogs yesterday, bringing our total to 55 dogs pulled from the ESLR shelter since our virtual event 2 weeks ago. Wonder why we saved this precious little girl? She’s spitting image of somepup that meant a lot to a lot of us. (Hint: ). Her name is Vespa and she, too, is mangey and perfect. Also giving side eye in photo 2. More intros coming soon! #justrescued

Meet our new guy in town, Buick. He was a street dog in Ensenada before becoming a TAP dog, and the story of how he got here is pretty wild. While in Ensenada for our clear the shelter event, we were driving the streets about 20 mins from the shelter on the way to our Airbnb when we first saw him. He was trailing a few feet behind a man on the sidewalk, and someone in the car drew our attention to him and how majestic he was. He was filthy but wearing a bandana, which mad...e us believe he was owned. To make ourselves feel better, we imagined that the guy he was following was his owner and that he was loved. The next day, we headed back to the shelter to pick up our first round of 25 sponsored dogs, and right outside of the shelter, there he was. Same dirty bandana, same handsome dog. He was in a crate and shaking uncontrollably, terrified. We were told someone had dropped him off during the night, and it felt way too much of a coincidence to see him again, the very next day, 20 mins away from where we originally spotted him. We took him out of the crate and never looked back. He is just over 100 lbs but should be somewhere in the 160-175+ range for an average Saint Bernard, maybe even more. Buick the gentle giant has some work ahead of him, but he’ll get there with us. Thanks to his foster Paul for welcoming all the hair and slobber that comes with this very good very big boy. Beep beep, Buick’s on the road to recovery! See more
