Today we said goodbye to Miss Rhonda. Even though she worked with us for less than a year, we will not forget her energy and cheer. It was a pleasure to work (and laugh) with her. Thank you for everything you did and all the best on your new journey, Rhonda!

We're very sad to report the passing of longtime Vandenberg Base Library librarian and former director, Joseph Carlson. He passed away on Saturday morning. Joe grew up in California and, after getting his Masters in Library Science, he served as a librarian in Vietnam, delivering books to troops in the field during the war. He also worked in the Panama Canal Zone and on Okinawa. Joe was the library's director after it moved into its current building in 1983, the former BX, and served in that role before retiring in the late 90s. He returned to work part time as the Reference Librarian where he kept a treasure box on his desk with goodies he supplied to give out to children on Base. He was a dedicated professional and will sorely be missed.
