Last week, on January 17, was the 21st anniversary of the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. This was a big eye opener to California that better precautions should be made to reduce the risks associated with earthquakes. Today in Earthquake History: In 1879, Florida has it's largest earthquake. It is said to of had an intensity level of VI. Two quakes were felt, both lasting 30 seconds. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthqua//events/1879_01_13.php

Earthquake Safety Tip: Keep calm as the quake occurs others will respond to your actions. A cool head can prevent panic. After the shaking stops, remain calm and reassuring. Check yourself and other for injuries. Do not move injured people unless they are in danger.
