The first area I examine is the top of the neck. The brain stem area. This area is one of the most common areas for nerve pressure AKA subluxation. The reason for this is that the biomechanics associated with this area is dynamic. It primarily allows for your head to be able to turn side to side and up and down. The first symptom you notice when you have a problem in this area is a chronic stiff neck and shoulders, limited range of motion when you turn your head from side to ...side and/or even a slight pinch or discomfort when you look up. Chronic headaches 1 or more times a week, blurred vision, ringing in the ears, trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep, neck, shoulder, arm and hand pain can all be a direct result of dysfunction in this area. Babies suffer from chronic ear infections, failure to latch and jaundice when this area suffers damage during the birth process. If you had a gate keeper that decided whether or not the rest of your body was going to be able to function that day this would be it. If continually allowed to be misaligned it causes spinal disease to progress in your neck which is extremely hard to reverse and eventually requires surgical intervention if no effort is put forth to prevent it.
