According to a new survey, we got burned out on being in the kitchen by last May or June . . . and we've been, quote, "running on fumes" ever since.... It's gotten so rough that one in three people say there are times where they'll whip together a dinner in 10 minutes or less. Here are the five things we cook in those situations . . . 1. Geils Band singer Peter Wolf says that as they were getting ready to release their Freeze-Frame album in 1981, the group had no idea what "Centerfold" would become for them. Peter Wolf recalls that J. Geils Band were surprised when their label president told them that "Centerfold" would be a single. "We really didn't think it was going to be a single. We were actually doing a video for 'Angel in Blue.' The president of the record company EMI, his name was Jim Mazza, called me up and said, 'Wolf, what are you doing?' I said, 'Well, we're making a video of "Angel in Blue."' He goes, 'Well, we're changing the single.' And I said, 'Jim, we can't do that, can we? I mean, we're right in the middle of a video.' He said, 'Well, just finish the video and then start on another one.' I said, 'Yeah, they're doing the "Centerfold." I don't know. It's a strange song to pick, maybe, for a first single. Who knows?' But it became our biggest record." Tie-in: J. Geils Band keyboardist Seth Justman, who wrote "Centerfold," celebrates his 70th birthday today (January 27th).

THE HIPPO'S QUESTION OF THE DAY: Could You Help Your Kid with Homework If You Didn't Have Google? Back when our parents were helping us with our homework, before the Internet was a thing . . . um, how did they do it? Did they actually, like, know the stuff?... According to a new survey, two-thirds of parents today say they rely on Google when they help their kids with their homework. 79% of parents say they do remember SOME of the stuff they learned in school, but they still struggle . . . especially with their kids' math homework. The main reason? Kids learn math differently today, and it just BAFFLES us. The survey also found the top ways parents get out of helping their kid with homework. The top five are: Asking their partner to help instead . . . coming home late . . . doing laundry or other chores instead . . . claiming to be too tired . . . and doing an emergency grocery run.
