We have exciting news: After countless hours invested by many people on our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers, we are so excited to announce that the YVCS school waiver application for PreK-6th grade in person instruction has been approved! The School Guidance and Case Investigation Team from the Contra Costa Health Services gave us this great news yesterday. And even better is that the YVCS Learning Center has begun with all of the Safety Guidelines already in place.... We are so excited to be supporting this event being hosted by our campus neighbors, Holy Cross Lutheran Church. . This is a fun outreach event that will serve our neighbors with a safe Halloween activity AND provide much needed non-perishables for our Food Bank! . For all our students, we will have a school-version of this event on Friday, 10/30, as students are picked up. Same rules will apply, drive through, drop off a non-perishable food item, get a treat bag! .... Students & siblings that are present in the car will get a treat bag. . You can help by: Inviting friends/families with children! Donate individually bagged candy for treat bags (by Sunday 10/25) Volunteer to help take pictures 10/30 NOTE: The food drive goes till 11/22. ABOUT ME, MS. CASTRO: Hello! I’m so excited to be your 2nd grade teacher. It’s going to be a great year full of new friends, new adventures, and new discoveries. This will be my 8th year teaching. I have a Bachelor's degree in Education and a minor in Psychology from Liberty Univer...sity in Virginia. I have a valid CA multiple teaching credential from Patten University in Oakland that I cleared through the WCCUSD, where I taught 6 years. I also have a Masters in Educational Technology from Concordia University, Irvine. I enjoy reading, photography, making videos, playing soccer and basketball, and all things outdoors especially camping. Let’s make this an incredible year!
