No-Shave November 2020 will now be extended through the month of December 2020 If you are seeing Yreka Police Officers a little less clean cut, there is a good reason. It’s because they are taking up the challenge of No-Shave November which will now extend through December. What exactly is No-Shave November? The concept is simple. No-Shave November is a month of no shaving to raise cancer awareness, primarily for testicular and prostate cancer. The goal is to grow awaren...ess by embracing our hair, something many cancer patients lose during treatment. The idea is that people asking men about their facial hair will spark conversation about men’s health issues. We will be raising money for Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant John Zook for his battle with cancer. Sergeant Zook is currently undergoing procedures for an aggressive cancer that he is fighting. Our prayers go out to Sergeant Zook and his family. Officers from the Yreka Police Department will be accepting donations at the Yreka Police Department located at 1400 Fairlane Rd. Yreka Ca. 96097 through the month of December 2020. The Yreka Police Officers Association will match up to $1,000.00 in donations that will be donated to Sergeant Zook. Please stop by, say hi and donate. Thank You Yreka Police Officers Association See more

Shop With a Cop 2020 The Yreka Police Department has decided to not conduct this year’s Shop with a Cop event typically held in December due to Covid 19 concerns with the recent spike in positive cases and our first death in Siskiyou County. The Shop with a Cop program has been going for the past 5 years and benefit’s so many children and families each year. The Yreka Police Department would like to convey this wasn’t an easy decision to make but we feel it’s best for every...one due to Covid 19 concerns and the harsh reality 2020 has brought us. We simply couldn’t take the chance that our program might cause someone to contract the virus and cause additional community spread or death. Our gracious contributors have agreed to allow us to deposit the funds from this year, request additional funding next year, and have a huge Shop with a Cop next year. Our business contributors each year are Wal Mart, DeClerk Enterprise, Rain Rock Casino, and the Siskiyou Central Credit Union. We also receive donations from citizens, police officers, some local churches, and anonymously. The Siskiyou Central Credit Union has advertised our program on their Website and on Facebook the past two years and accept donations for our program should you want to donate to this tremendous community program. Our emphasis this year was going to be on children affected by the local fires, and it breaks our hearts to cancel the event but look forward to next year for the largest event ever. See more
