Kern County Youth for Christ

On Nov 11, Campus Life in Ridgecrest co-hosted a home run derby with FCA. In all, we had 56 students participate. We also had over 100 family members throughout the event who came to support their student. It was a great day to provide some outdoor fun for our community.

Mentoring is an important part of volunteering. If your driving a student to and event, leading a small group, or actually mentoring a student one on one, you are mentors in the lives of the youth as a YFC volunteer. We trained on mentoring at our volunteer retreat this past month. Jayleen shares why she attends parent life, I go to parent life to learn new things. Each week we either learn a topic of parenting or maybe discuss other life issues we may be facing. Honestly it it extremely helpful. I love the fact that I joined. I was skeptical at first in believing in God again but my relationship with Him right now is stronger than I could have ever imagined. I have learned that we all make mistakes but no matter what as long as we give it to God he will always forgive.

Parent Life had the opportunity to partner with a local family who wanted to help their own children learn to serve and be generous. They packed and donated bags of nonperishable goods for our parent life students to take home and share with their families.
