It was an awe-inspiring evening captivated by the essence of Toni Morrison. Over 300 people from the community, the industry, artists and musicians were mesmerized by the moving and introspective film, Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am, where Toni Morrison intimately shares about her life and what inspired her writing through her unique style of humor, intrigue, and profound wisdom. The evening opened with wonderful words of welcome by co-hosts Gwendolyn Young and Norman Pearlst...ine. They set the tone for the special screening of the film. The conversation panel was co-hosted by Quincy Jones and Janet Mock in conversation with the acclaimed filmmaker Timothy Greenfield - Sanders and film scorer and composer Kathryn Bostic. The audience’s love and gratitude for Toni Morrison was truly palpable. Yes, it was a memorable evening, leaving us filled with gratitude for the treasure that was Toni Morrison and inspired to make our walk in this world better. Young Communications Group wishes to thank Senator Holly Mitchell for sending her field representative Helen Amelga, to represent the 30th Senate District, Black Women Rally for Action, Community Women Vital Voices, and the National Council of Negro Women for being co-sponsors of the event. And a special thank you to producer Chad Thompson, Museum of Tolerance director, Lorraine Sais and the museum staff.
