York Cattle and Performance Quarter Horses 29.06.2021

Number 12 is named "Shelby" after the Shelby Cobra. It's a red roan filly by Budhas King Fritz and out of Ebar Colonels Jade ("Jade"). We were fortunate to get Jade from Tim and Kelleigh Hansen. She was a head horse for Tim and a barrel horse for Kelleigh. She is 24 this year, but did an awesome job on this nice big filly. We are also excited to say that she is confirmed in foal to "Fritz" again for a 2022 foal. We are keeping this filly!

#10 is "Lexus". It's a sorrel filly by Budhas King Fritz and out of Ikes Top Chick ("Belle"). "Belle" is a daughter of Heza Lighting Ike and goes back to the great Frostys Tops on her bottom side. She was a really nice head horse for Todd, and Riley won money on her at the PRCA rodeos in the steer wrestling. This mare has produced some really nice head horses by "Budha", including the nine year old roan gelding called "Tanner" that we recently lost in a tragic accident. Julie has decided to keep this cutie around. Belle has had almost all stud colts, so we don't want to lose a chance at keeping a nice replacement filly out of her. Yes, we're keeping a lot this year!! She slinks around like a cat.

Foal #9 is "Porsche". This little filly is very lucky to be with us today. She was a "red bag" (premature separation of the placenta) birth, and I happened to see the mare foaling shortly following chores early in the morning. I was able to tear the placenta and quickly pull her so that she could begin breathing. To make matters worse, she was almost a month premature. She needed to be fed via a nasogastric tube initially, then by a bottle for a couple of days. Eventually sh...e could nurse, but had to be assisted to stand and help balance/support her while she nursed for another 2 days. Every 2 hours we were helping her. She was a little fighter, and fortunately her tarsal (hock) and carpal (knee) bones were surprisingly well ossified/developed on radiographs. These pictures were taken last week, and she wasn't even supposed to be born for another week at that time!! She is by Wyatt and Lacy Bourdets stallion, Isaac Starlight (x Charlies Starlight) and out of Miss Budha Chex ("Pumpkin"). "Pumpkin" is a young, very talented mare that we raised. She sustained a severe laceration of her tendons and tendon sheath early in her 4 year old year, and we were fortunate to be able to get her sound enough to be a brood mare. See more

Foal # 8 is "Beamer". It's a sorrel filly that is the result of an embryo transfer by Budhas King Fritz and out of Shining Sugar Pop. "Sugar Pop" is the palomino mare that Blake Teixeira heads on. She is by Codys Shining Spark (x Shining Spark) and out of Joes Eleven Roses (x Zan Parr Jack). This filly is not for sale.

Poor "Lois"! She was our last foal born this year, and I realized that I never posted any pictures of her! She is by War Black Ike and out of Classie Ribbon (a daughter of our stallion, Pabst Budha Ribbon). Her maternal grand mother is Les Oswald's good rope horse that he called "Ling". This filly was born a blue roan like her mother, but she does have the grey gene and will continue to grey. She is available. PM for more info.

Some video of Blake Teixeira and Tanner's runs from the Average Joe Open Roping. This young gelding has had a pretty successful last few weeks with Todd York winning over $2000 on him at the ACTRA National Finals in the 8.5 and the Century ropings and yesterday Blake won $3200 on him at the Average Joe! Thanks to Brooke Teixeira for the videos!
