Escaping Death While Window Cleaning: Friday afternoon I was at a house on the Peninsula cleaning windows and the weather went from sunny and sweltering hot to grayish looming storm clouds with crackling thunder. I noticed pine cones falling out of the trees as the light breeze began to turn into swift winds. As the weather began to drastically change I yelled to my work mate, "Lets wrap things up and get out of here. This doesn't look good!". At that time the air got violent... and the trees began to sway uncontrollably. I looked at Him and said "Be careful, these trees have been coming down this year left and right!". Just then, I heard a loud breaking crack as He yells, "WATCH OUT!". Not knowing where the supposed tree was coming from I ran towards the garage. I tilted my head back and upward to glimpse peripherally a huge dirty shadow rapidly approaching me as a loud 'Boom!' thundered behind me and shook the ground. As I turned around I saw that I was about 10 ft away from having been crushed by a 30-35 ft long piece of tree. To call it a heart pounding experience is quiet the understatement. From there we ran to the street and stood back to back watching upwards for other potential falling trees as they swayed back and forth making distinct cracking and snapping noises and watching as a couple branches broke off and hit my car. As soon as there was a break in the wind we ran and began to pack up my equipment only to be hit with heavy hail and rain that created small rivers in out path. Drenched and in the car we barely made it past several flooding roads littered with rocks, branches and othe debris and out of the country club to somewhat safety. See more
