Western Sonoma County Historical Society was the featured Charity Spotlight in the Sebastopol Living Magazine September 2020 issue. Bravo to us! Check it out.

The Museum had our first visitor's today in a very long time. They came to purchase Suffrage t-shirts, suffrage books and lapel buttons, which they were able to do at our shop. BUT, while they were there they were able to take a peek at our recently completed "Suffrage Headquarters" exhibit. If you wish to make purchases, we can accommodate a limited number of people at a time and maybe you too can take a quick look at the exhibit. Of course face protection and social distancing is required. Reservations are required via our web site or email - [email protected]

August 26, 2020, a most historic day. It's been 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Take a drive or walk down Main St. tomorrow to see the Suffrage banners being installed by the Boy Scouts along with the United States Flag, a very appropriate marriage. The Suffrage banners may only be up one day, so tomorrow is the day. Bring your cameras and your love for history because this is a great day.

ALICE PAUL - REMEMBER THE LADIES I received notification of this event because they knew I would be interested. I really think that more than just me would like to take part in viewing this performance. Brought to us by the Chief Solano Chapter of the NSDAR, this event is free and viewable through zoom. Mark your calendars for August 15th. Registration is very simple. Click the link and share it with others. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/meet-a-suffragist-alice-paul-t

For many rare opportunities for online access to research records at: newspapers.com for access to articles; ancestry.com library edition for census, birth, marriage, death records; and heritagequest for census records, I suggest your local library who is giving free access during their closures. You just need a library card and they are easy to get if you don't have one. Check out their website for more information. http://www.libraryaware.com//50e7048a-9371-4de0-bac8-372a4

Making progress with our Suffrage Headquarters with a rather timely quote! We remain temporarily closed but watch our website as we will be posting links for digital tours and events. Be safe!

Well, we may not know exactly when we will open again, but we will be ready with our next exhibit when that day arrives! Mary and Sally working behind the scenes at our Western County Museum on the Suffrage Headquarters exhibit. I think you might be surprised with the level of activity here in Sebastopol in those days to win the vote for women! Hope to see you soon! Watch this space.....

If you didn't see the excellent full-page spread in a recent Sonoma West Times edition, brought to us by the Sebastopol Downtown Association and if you have 2020 high school graduates, you might want to share the essay contest noted in this article. Be a part of history in the making today.
