Woodland Auto Display, Paso Robles, California

A lot going on at the Woodland Auto Display. The new building addition should be completed in 3 or 4 weeks. Then we can start the process of moving cars and displays. When finalized, we will have approximately 20,000 sq ft under roof with 100 +/- vehicles plus new photos, displays, etc.. As to the mix, we are expecting everything from a 1909 Babcock to the famous Jimmy Oskie owned only 4 bar Sprint Car, Ole Paint, built by Hank Henry. You might even catch a glimpse of the magnificently replicated 1963/1964 era 8-Ball NASCAR Calif Modified built by Mike Sargent Racing. I'll write more and try to post some photos as we get closer.

It is official. The Moser powered Don Edmunds built Tamale Wagon sprint car will be leaving Cal State University, Northridge mid Oct and go directly to the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles where it will be part of a display, "Legends of Los Angeles". The display will feature numerous race car builders from the Los Angeles area. This Tamale Wagon was owned by Alex Morales and driven by Rick Goudy among others and will be on loan to the Petersen Museum through the end of 2019.

We broke the 800 count for likes on the Woodland Auto Display site. Thank you one and all for your support. (Please pass our info on to any of your friends you feel would be interested.) Also, while not finalized, it looks as if at least one of our race cars is going to be on display for a year at the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles beginning in November.

Earlier this week, I had a visit from George Blacker, aka Ram Bull. He donated several outstanding items to the Woodland Auto Display which included a Jake Swanson driving uniform, the helmet Mike Spencer used during his last main event victory and more. These items will soon be on display. George, thank you once again!

Woodland Auto Display is proud to have 2 of Ascot's key racecars on loan to Cal State University Northridge's Salute to Ascot. The first one is a Midget formerly owned and driven by Parnelli Jones and also driven by Bobby Unser, Al Unser Sr and Mario Andretti. The other is a Moser V-8 powered Sprint Car "Tamale Wagon" formerly campaigned by the Morales Bros. This one was driven by Rick Goudy to the 1978 CRA Championship. Both cars were built by Don Edmunds. There will be other numerous race cars, motorcycles, photos, posters etc. making this a one-time salute to one of the most famous racetrack in the country.

This was a very special night for me as I was inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame at their induction banquet in Napa, Calif. on 6/21/18. To make it even more special, my wife, 4 children and son-in-law were in attendance, along with approx. 500 other attendees, to help celebrate. I am truly honored by this award and wish to thank all those who made it possible.

Dennis Gage of "My Classic Car" recently filmed an episode at the Woodland Auto Display in Paso Robles, Calif. STOP THE PRESSES: The Spring Mega Swap Meet, hosted by the Woodland Auto Display and 1010 Garage, located at the Estrella Warbird Museum in Paso Robles, Calif., has a change of dates. Instead of Sunday 5/21/17 as previously stated, it has been moved to Sat 5/13/17 and will be held in conjunction with the Warbirds Wings & Wheels 9 Car Show. This will truly allow it to grow into the largest automotive program of its' type on the Central Coast. We have taxi-way access approv...ed which means the Car Show will be held in the same area as in the past while the Swap Meet will be on the E/W taxi-way with all Swap Meet stalls on the taxi-way asphalt. Car Show vehicles will enter at the same location as in the past while the Swap Meet sellers will have an entry/exit through the parking lot on the east side of the property. The public will have access to all, including the Estrella Warbird Museum display buildings and Woodland Auto Display. The next Central Coast Mega Swap Meet, Sponsored by the Woodland Auto Display and 1010 Garage in Atas., is scheduled for Sun 5/21/2017. This is located at the Estrella Warbird Museum, 5421 Dry Creek Rd in Paso Robles and is a fund raiser for the EWM. We are focusing on vintage auto, street rods, race cars, motorcycles, tractors, etc. Sellers can set up between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. 5/20/17 and at 6:00 a.m. 5/21. Buyers gate opens at 7:00 and the event will run until at least 2:00 p.m.. FYI The Woodland Auto Display is affiliated with the Estrella Warbird Museum and is located at 4251 Old Creek Rd in Paso Robles which is at the So. end of the Paso Robles Airport. There is a single charge of $10.00 for adults which gives access to ALL WAD & EWM display buildings, outdoor aircraft displays etc.. The hours are Thurs. thru Sun. from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. plus most holiday Mondays.
