New color, who dis??? I’ve fallen in love with the colors of fall!
Beach hair...which we live in San Diego so we can go to the beach year round! Some of my favorite KEVIN.MURPHY products to give you beach hair are HAIR.RESORT which comes in a spray and a lotion and MOTION.LOTION. HAIR.RESORT gives a very textured look. You can spray the spray on wet or dry hair. The lotion I use mainly on wet hair and it does tend to be a little more concentrated then the lotion. MOTION.LOTION helps protect your hair from the UV rays and enhanced whatever curl you have while also giving you a weightless feel and extra shine.
On some clients I like to do a mix of balayage and a traditional highlight. If my client hasn’t been in in awhile sometimes I’ll do some highlights to the root area and balayage some in to blend the line between their last highlight session and this one. I feel it just ties the whole style together and making my clients hair look amazing is always the goal!
Just a little pop of color to jazz up this look. When you want to do a peek a boo highlight you definitely want your haircut to have layers in it. This will show the peek a boo more then if your hair is all the same length. If you could do a peek a boo highlight what color would you do?
Balayage...how long did it take you to say that word right??? Balayage is free hand painting onto your hair which creates soft highlights and a natural graduation of lightness on your ends. Since it’s a softer highlight you can go longer between visits because you don’t have the same grow out of a highlight. This is great if you like lighter hair but don’t like having to come in as often.
How many of you go lighter in the summer and darker in the fall? I’m always drawn to more copper tones in the fall. Copper just feel like fall to me. What color do you think of when you think of fall?
How often do you get your haircut? If your hair is shorter it’s good to come in about every 4-6 weeks to keep the style and keep it lightweight. The longer it gets the heavier it gets and that can make it harder to style. If your growing out your hair I recommend about every 12 weeks. This gives you time to get more length so you don’t feel like we are cutting off what you just grew. An easy way to remember when 12 week is in the future look at holidays! I always tell my clients if they don’t pre-book if they make it to certain holidays it’s been too long!
Who would have ever thought that coordinating your outfit to a mask would be a thing...but here we are! So why not match your scrunchies to your mask??? All these are up in my Etsy store and Facebook store so be sure to check them out!
Let’s talk about grey blending. With salons closing, then opening, then closing again a few of my clients have decided to start going grey. Depending on how dark you’ve been coloring your hair growing it out with that line of color and no color can be trying. A great way to grow it out while having it look more natural is grey blending which will look different for each client. Having a plan for growing out your hair makes those bad hair days easier and less tempting to get in for a full color.
Did you know I have a spot up in Carlsbad inside Local Niche for all my handmade items? My setup has almost everything I make, masks, candles, dream catchers, and all my hair barrettes and combs. If you are ever up in Carlsbad stop by and check out the store!
Check out this pretty lady! I took off quite a bit of length off her and did a purple balayage and darkened her natural color. To maintain her color until her next visit I made her a purple shampoo with my Pigments. Having the right take home products to maintain your color at home is SO important.
Lots of Koozies coming to the studio and my Etsy page soon! $5 each, the perfect way to keep your beer cold!
