Hello: My name is Conner Clemons. I am the President of JLSA for the 2014-2015 school year. You have received this email because you are on the JLSA mailing list. If you wish to no longer receive these emails, please send me a reply saying so. First of all, I hope you all enjoyed Rosh Hashana. Rabbi Dave Sorani and I spent a good amount of time this past month forming ideas and planning events for this school year. Our first event/meeting will be on:... October 6, 2014, at 12:15 PM in Room 7! Rabbi Sorani is going to lead the discussion and provide lunch for all those who attend. Also, he will give information about his program: The Jewish Graduate Student Initiative (http://thejgsi.org/). The JGSI is an awesome organization that offers all JLSA students the opportunity to attend events with Jewish business executives and lawyers, earn stipends, and travel to Europe and Israel. Our next goal is to establish a mentor program. We want to connect every JLSA member at Whittier with a mentor Jewish lawyer in Orange County. We will talk more about this at the meeting. Rabbi Sorani and I are also getting in contact with the other JLSAs in Orange County (UCI and Chapman) to host a catered Shabbat Dinner at a hotel somewhere near Whittier on November 7th, 2014. Please, mark your calendar now! As you can see, our goal is to expand the JLSA program at Whittier. We have so many students who are looking for opportunities to network. This is the perfect opportunity to get a chance to network. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.
