On this final night of Hanukkah, we want to take this moment to thank all of our friends, family, and guests for all they’ve done to support us this year. To say 2020 was challenging would be an understatement, but as we light the last candle, we are humbled and reminded to find the light in the darkness. We’re honored to have been a part of your celebrations and hope to continue to share our food and traditions. We don’t know what 2021 will bring, but if we’ve learned anything at all this year - no matter what curveballs come our way, we will always find a way to eat, connect, and create new memories with the ones we love. Happy Hanukkah! Stay safe, be well, and pass the latkes!

Normally, this message would just be to remember to vote, and make your voice heard. Something that would try not to ruffle feathersor alienate customers but trumpet civic duty. This isn’t normal times: VOTE OUT TRUMP. Vote out the Congressman and Senators who enable him. This election is too important to just stick to serving food, and we will not apologizefor choosing theright side of history. The current administration has failed us with a lack of COVID19 response, and ...threatens every small business, family, and community. His attacks on immigrants &minorities and barely-veiled support of White Supremacists are anti-American. We believe in this country, and we believe in Biden-Harris and we will not be silent. Your voice and your vote matters #votebiden #86trump For more info on early voting, vote-by-mail ballot drop off locations, and Election Day polling locations, visit sos.ca.gov/elections

When Evan Bloom and his brother Ari, the chef and co-founder of Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen in San Francisco would go to bed when they were little, they have ...a fond memory of their father Stuart‘s unique night time routine. On many evenings, he would sit down to read two local newspapers and enjoy a snack of sour cream and fruit, either from the apricot tree next to their California home or from Harry & David Fruit of the Month Club. Today, the love of fruit and cream is multigenerational. It’s a Bloom men’s tradition, Evan shared. Link below for this summer-y family recipe as well as a poached salmon recipe from the Canadian side of the Bloom family. Shabbat Shalom! https://bit.ly/2Vo0NOL

The Jewish People have always stood up and pushed America to live up to its ideals of equality and justice. Wise Sons will be donating 10% of it's sales this week to the @naacp "Now more than ever, there is no us vs. them. We are all black. We are all Jews. We are all Muslims. We are all women. We are all immigrants. We are all LGBT. And when the rights of one of us are threatened, all of us are threatened. These are the values that will guide this coalition of now as we stand and fight together today. We are as one, bound by the common cause of civil rights, justice and fair treatment for all Americans." #blacklivesmatter #justiceforgeorgefloyd

Nothing like a Reuben for lunch! I thought I was just going to eat half. Pro tip: warm it up in your toaster oven when you get it home. (People, don’t eat swe...aty sandwiches!) And order some @wisesons pastrami-spiced salmon to have on hand while you’re at it! (I also love their scallion cream cheese, so good on a sourdough English muffin.) See more

There are, in general, two types of Jewish mothers: those who cook and are good at it, and those who cook and aren’t good at it, we write in our new book, EAT SOMETHING. "And no matter which kind of mother we have, we grow up eating her food and loving it. BECAUSE WE LOVE OUR MOMS. (And okay, yes, secretly Heinz chili sauce, too.) Margie and Linda pictured here:). Happy Mother’s Day, everyone!! Be a mensch and send her something she'll love. Like #eatsomethingbook ! BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. Bonus: it will last longer than flowers!
