Dr. James Veltmeyer, past Congressional candidate, author, and host of the nationally-broadcast Physician on a Mission podcast, says influenza victims are being totally and cruelly ignored during this outbreak. Far more Americans are susceptible to contracting one of the common strains of flu than COVID-19 and far more are being hospitalized and dying. Yet, we are not hearing calls to test all Americans for the flu nor is the media giving us ‘breaking news’ flashes on every new flu case or death associated with the flu. Veltmeyer said that the Centers for Disease Control’s own estimates indicate as many as 51 million Americans have been sickened by the flu just in the five months since October 1 or as many as 10 million per month. There have been between 370,000 and 670,000 hospitalizations or as many as 134,000 a month since flu season started. Most importantly, as many as 55,000 people have died or 11,000 per month. This, despite the widespread availability of flu vaccines. In contrast, and allowing for the fact that there has not been extensive testing yet, fewer than 5,000 Americans have contracted COVID-19 and less than 100 have died. While it is true that thousands more have likely been infected, most will have mild or no symptoms at all and will recover quickly as they are in China right now. There will be no need to hospitalize the overwhelmingly majority of those afflicted with this virus. We have the means for most people to self-treat at home in consultation with their physician, said Dr. Veltmeyer. He added that children are the most common vectors of the seasonal flu, yet children are hardly even impacted by COVID-19, making this virus potentially less contagious than the common flu. And, just like the flu, the main complication with COVID-19 is not the virus itself but pneumonia. Dr. Veltmeyer questioned the recommendation of Dr. Anthony Fauci for a nationwide 14-day quarantine of all Americans. That would raise severe Constitutional questions and how would that be enforced? Are we going to put America under martial law over this? Do we have enough troops to patrol every neighborhood? We still do have a Bill of Rights, something China, Italy and other nations don’t. I hate to think that the globalists would use a virus outbreak to enact totalitarian measures inside the United States, measures that would likely only have a marginal impact beyond the steps that have already been taken, like the travel bans and restrictions on public gatherings. He urged all Americans to practice sound hygiene, exercise reasonable caution around sick people, but otherwise go about their normal activities. No virus can or should be permitted to tank the American economy. If it does, there’s another agenda going on. ###
