"Go Tell It On The Mountain" Classic Christmas Song Performance December 19 - January 10 Free!... WCT will also be presenting a children’s production of holiday favorites titled, Go Tell It On the Mountain, available for free viewing starting December 19. Directed by Fernando Silveira, the production includes classic Christmas songs, letters to Santa, a recitation of Twas A Night Before Christmas, and an excerpt from How The Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss. The show includes the songs Jingle Bells, Oh Holy Night, Holly Jolly Christmas, I'll Be Home, and others. "SCRIPTED" DECEMBER 18 TO JANUARY 10 FREE Available at wctperformingartscenter.org... Six short, one-act plays centered on Christmas, family traditions and imaginary figures common to the year-end festivities. The plays are a mix of comedy, suspense, and romance and are selected from more than 130 script submissions received from playwrights across the country. In Outsourcing Christmas by May Steelsmith, a pro writer and actress with many credits in stage and film, a brother and sister begrudgingly return home for Christmas only to find that their parents have gone off to the Bahamas for the holiday and in their place they’ve hired an elderly couple as stand-ins. The resulting action bristles with sharp comedy. In Angela’s Restaurant by Chip Bolcik, a successful playwright, pro photographer and voice-over specialist, hard times have fallen on a generous restaurateur in a bad part of town as she sadly prepares to close her restaurant for good. However, she serves one last patron, a homeless woman who turns out to be her angel of mercy. The True Meaning of Christmas, a satire by Kate Danley who is heralded online as a "USA Today Best-Selling Author", boggles minds and cracks us up when shopping mall employees argue over whether a zombie Santa Claus and vampire reindeer are appropriate for this joyful time of year. Two Turtle Doves by Hal Corley, a writer for TV soap opera "All My Children (1991-97), finds two apartment-house neighbors meeting romantically for the first time when one knocks on the other’s door near midnight on Christmas Day. Joe & Eddy’s by Jim Gordon, whose plays have appeared in the Beest Short Plays of 2005 and 2006, early one Christmas Eve the bartender Tom is eerily visited by what turns out to be a spirit from his past. Seth Freeman, a TV producer, credited for many episodes of Lou Grant (1977), The Best Times (1985) and Brookly Bridge (1991) brings us the mostly true story of the origin of a favorite Christmas carol shows up in No Sound of Music", where lovers Marta and Franz Gruber are tasked with saving the day and making history on a withering winter’s night in 1818 Austria. Directors for the show include Damian Sebouhian, David Partch, and Don Samson, along with Virginia Handley, Liz Dellett and Kevin Klay.
