Our "WELCOME" sign at the tracks was wiped out by a drunk driver. I am looking for someone who can replace the decal lettering. If you know of someone who does great work have them contact me please!

Ninety years ago a group of Williams business and professional men decided it was time to build a Masonic Hall. Up until that time they had shared the Oddfellows Hall across the street. The Williams chapter of Masons was formed in 1880 at the beginning of the boom for Williams. The railroad was established, there was a grand hotel and people were pouring in from all over the U.S. and the world to try the healing waters of the much publicized mineral springs west of town. In 1...930 the trustees of the Masons decided it was a good time to build with the Labor force strong because of the depression and wages were low. Two men,John F. Fouch and Harry Rathbun brothers in laws, went to the bank for a loan for construction and were themselves, turned down because bank loans were tough to come by . The bank agreed to loan them the money once there were rents coming in for the mercantile spaces on the bottom floor. The second story was designated as the meeting room and social space that the Freemason's would use for the next 75 years. Masonic Halls were typically a two story building so that passersby were not able to over hear the secrets of the lodge. John F. Fouch and H. H. Rathbun local business owners fronted the money for the project. Fouch and Rathbun were joined by H. H. Crutcher as trustees to oversee the project. They met with prominent architects Starks and Flanders of Sacramento, who went on to design and build the Williams Elementary School in 1934 and Williams City Hall in 1937. An agreement was reached and a contractor, J.P. Brennan of Redding was hired to do the work. The terms of the contact which you will see below were pretty specific. The price -$24,998. The time for construction- 90 days. Men worked six days a week, for $2.00 a day, $1.00 a day on Saturdays. And so began the Tuscan Lodge #261 See more
